Electrical Product Specialist SMC Corporation of America is seeking a highly driven Electrical Product Specialist to support the growth and promotion of advanced industrial automation solutions across key manufacturing markets. This role combines technical expertise, customer engagement, strategic sales support, and project management to help customers implement cutting-edge electrical automation technologies that improve machine performance, efficiency, and reliability. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in industrial automation, electrical engineering, controls, sensors, electric actuators, industrial networking, or factory automation who enjoys working directly with customers, sales teams, and engineering groups to solve complex application challenges. About the Role The Electrical Product Specialist serves as the primary technical and commercial expert for SMC's electrical automation product portfolio, including: Electric actuators Industrial communication and networking solutions Sensors Ionizers Advanced automation technologies In this role, you will partner closely with Sales, Engineering, Marketing, and customers to identify opportunities, support product implementation, drive technical presentations, and contribute to long-term strategic growth initiatives. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, engineering teams, and sales personnel Identify customer needs and recommend tailored electrical automation solutions Provide technical expertise during pre-sales and post-sales support activities Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions to customers and internal teams Assist with implementation, sizing, and application support for electrical automation products Collaborate with engineering and marketing teams to provide technical feedback for new product development Support strategic product launches and market expansion initiatives Identify competitive industry trends and emerging technologies within industrial automation Generate new business opportunities and support lead development activities Participate in regional, national, and local trade shows and customer events Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, projects, opportunities, and sales activity within CRM systems Support target accounts and strategic customer projects related to SMC electrical automation solutions Analyze customer feedback and market conditions to help improve products and services Work cross-functionally with internal departments to ensure customer satisfaction and project success Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or related field preferred Equivalent industry experience with an Associate degree may also be considered Experience in technical sales, applications engineering, industrial automation, controls engineering, or factory automation preferred Strong understanding of electrical systems, automation technologies, and industrial manufacturing processes Experience with electrical automation products such as electric actuators, industrial communication systems, sensors, PLC integration, or related technologies preferred Ability to build relationships with customers and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences Strong presentation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Experience using CRM software and managing technical sales activities Ability to manage multiple projects and customer priorities simultaneously Results-driven mindset with strong organizational and strategic thinking abilities Preferred Industry Experience Experience supporting or working within industries such as: Packaging Automotive manufacturing Food and beverage Electronics manufacturing Pharmaceutical and life sciences Chemical processing Laser cutting and material handling Industrial machinery and OEM environments Travel Requirements Frequent travel to customer facilities and industry events Overnight travel may exceed 50% Must be able to transport product samples and equipment up to 50 lbs Why Join SMC?
