Junior Trade Promotion Specialist Who are we? The Taiwan Trade Center Chicago is a branch office of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). TAITRA is the foremost non-profit trade promotion organization in Taiwan. Headquartered in Taipei, TAITRA has sixty overseas branch offices worldwide. Our branch's mission is to promote Taiwanese trade in the Midwestern United States. Supported primarily by Taiwan's International Trade Administration, as well as other governmental and industry associations, we assist companies of all sizes in doing business with Taiwan. What are the requirements? Bachelor's Degree. Degree in Business, Communications, International Relations, Marketing, or Data Analysis is a plus, but not required. Fluency in English is required. The ability to speak Mandarin is a plus. Highly motivated to work independently and as a team member in a multicultural environment. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Legally entitled to work in the U.S. Good team player with a positive attitude.

Job Description:

You will assist local U.S. companies in doing business with Taiwan. You will be in charge of your own projects from start to finish. Project depth ranges from assisting small companies with simple sourcing initiatives to working closely with multinational companies to identify business partners in Taiwan. You will be responsible for promoting Taiwan's exports, TAITRA's international trade shows, and sourcing activities in Taiwan in order to recruit U.S. companies to source from Taiwan, either independently or as part of a team. You will need to conduct research and stay up to date on industry trends in sectors that are prominent in Taiwan to support outreach initiatives. You will research various industries and companies in order to conduct outreach initiatives and promote TAITRA's trade facilitation services, as well as Taiwan's industries and products. You may be assigned to assist in organizing Taiwanese delegations visiting Chicago or other Midwestern cities, organize TAITRA's participation in local or regional trade shows and related industry activities, and support additional projects assigned periodically by our headquarters. Occasional domestic travel and weekend event support may be required. You will also have the opportunity to develop and maintain relationships with local companies, trade associations, and industrial organizations. You may assist in coordinating public relations and media-related activities for trade shows and special events, including working with PR agencies, media outreach, inviting media representatives to Taiwan, and coordinating advertising or media purchasing initiatives. You will assist in developing and maintaining Taiwan Trade Center Chicago's online presence through our website and social media platforms. Draft business and industry-related articles as needed.
