We provide domain insight, structured evaluations, lab testing, and systems architecture while working directly with leading technology manufacturers to align, validate, and stand behind our recommendations. In support of our FY30 Strategic Growth Plan, we are seeking a Senior Director of Marketing to build and operate our marketing function. This individual will report into the COO at Blackwood and focus on marketing to two primary audiences - Customers (Public Sector Agencies, Education and Healthcare Institutions, and Enterprise Organizations) and Technology Partners (Cybersecurity and IT solution providers ranging from established OEMs to emerging innovators). We've recently completed development of comprehensive Messaging and Brand Guidelines and will spend the back half of the year launching the brand, applying our new visual identity and brand elements, upgrading our website, and maturing our overall marketing motions. Ultimately, we aim to show up in a much bigger way and rally around the idea that we are "Built to Back You." This individual will be responsible for transforming Blackwood's marketing capability into a scalable growth engine that strengthens our market position, supports revenue generation, deepens partner alignment, and elevates our brand presence across the cybersecurity and technology ecosystem. Specific responsibilities are expected to evolve over time; however, core responsibilities are as follows:
STRATEGIC MARKETING & BRAND LEADERSHIP
Operationalize Blackwood's newly developed Messaging and Brand Guidelines across all internal and external marketing channels. Build and execute a comprehensive multi-channel marketing strategy aligned to Blackwood's FY30 Strategic Growth Plan. Establish measurable marketing objectives tied to pipeline generation, strategic account engagement, partner alignment, brand awareness, and revenue growth. Collaborate with Executive Leadership and cross-functional teams to shape long-term brand strategy, market positioning, and strategic communications. Mature Blackwood's marketing operations, processes, tooling, and governance to support scale.
AMPLIFY GO-TO-MARKET
Partner closely with Executive Team to align marketing initiatives to strategic growth objectives and customer priorities. Coordinate all virtual or in-person marketing events such as trade shows, conferences, seminars, workshops, webinars, roadshows, and corporate-sponsored events. This includes production of creative events that reflect our brand and development of all associated creative assets. Develop and manage integrated marketing campaigns designed to generate awareness, engagement, and qualified pipeline opportunities. Support account-based marketing (ABM) and targeted outreach initiatives focused on Federal, SLED, Healthcare, Education, and Enterprise customers. Establish campaign measurement and attribution methodologies to evaluate return on marketing investment.
PARTNER AND ALLIANCE MARKETING
Build strategic marketing relationships with Blackwood's Technology Partners, including both established OEMs and emerging innovators. Collaborate with alliance teams on co-branded campaigns, events, thought leadership initiatives, and executive engagement opportunities. Align marketing initiatives with partner GTM priorities to drive awareness, engagement, pipeline development, and strategic account alignment. Coordinate Blackwood's use of partner funding programs including MDF, sponsorships, and joint marketing initiatives. Coordinate all administrative aspects of channel marketing programs to include submissions, claims, tracking, reporting, and compliance requirements.
EVENTS, COMMUNICATION & CONTENT
Lead Blackwood's event strategy including conferences, executive engagements, webinars, workshops, partner events, customer experiences, and industry sponsorships. Oversee the creation of marketing collateral and digital assets that reflect Blackwood's visual identity and strategic messaging. Direct the development and execution of Blackwood's social media and digital communication strategy. Manage editorial calendars and content development across all marketing channels. Ensure consistency of messaging, tone, and brand presentation across all customer-facing touchpoints.
TEAM LEADERSHIP & OPERATIONAL MATURITY
Build and mature Blackwood's long-term marketing capability, organizational structure, and supporting vendor ecosystem. Identify opportunities to amplify Blackwood's industry presence through human-centric storytelling, customer success narratives, thought leadership, and strategic communications. Manage internal and external creative, digital, event, and marketing support resources. Introduce scalable processes, workflows, and operational discipline across the marketing function. Foster a high-energy, collaborative, and execution-oriented culture aligned to Blackwood's values and growth objectives. Basic Qualifications US Citizen Willingness to permit a Background Check Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience 8+ years of experience in B2B technology, cybersecurity, channel, or growth marketing. Strong executive communication, presentation, and storytelling skills. Strong organizational leadership and project management capabilities. Experience leading brand launches, website redesigns, or strategic rebranding initiatives. Experience supporting enterprise sales organizations and partner ecosystems. Reputation of operating with strong ethics and integrity Passion to Hustle and Have Fun Additional Qualifications Experience within cybersecurity, cloud, networking, AI, data, or infrastructure technology markets. Experience working with OEM alliance programs and channel marketing motions. Experience building or scaling marketing functions in a growth-stage organization. Familiarity with account-based marketing (ABM), marketing automation, CRM platforms, and digital campaign analytics. Commuting proximity to Annapolis, MD strongly desired
