Farmers Market Manager

  • $25 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications Newsletters (communication methods) Full Job Description Market Manager Duties Attend City Council meetings, planning, and tracking meetings as requested.
Create a budget and ensure adherence to financial goals. Graphic design for marketing, social media, and promotion. Facilitate all aspects of the sponsorship program, including recruitment, communication, and scheduling. All enrichment program planning, scheduling, and facilitation. Volunteer recruitment and organization. Enroll in, distribute, track, and facilitate food assistance programs. Update and distribute applications to prospective vendors. Admit or deny vendor applicants. Communication with vendors, customers, and city. Train and mentor vendors, including resource connection, law literacy, license adherence, product development, etc. Ensure vendor contracts, permits, and licenses are submitted, accurate, and approved. Create weekly market maps and direct market day traffic. Arrive 90 mins before the market, stay until the last vendor leaves 30-60 mins after close. Set up and take down street signs, market signs, tables, tents, chairs, barriers using a personal vehicle. Unlock shed, power access, and bathroom access. Photograph/video record market for publicity. Sell merchandise, track inventory. Collect and maintain accurate community info for the info desk. Enforce market rules, facilitate conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions. Contact police for code enforcement (ie towing, disturbance). Track adult shopper and treasure hunt participant numbers, vendor attendance, weather/temp, food assistance info, etc. Receive and process all payments. Pick up and return SNAP machine and petty cash to City Hall on market days. Reimburse vendors for food assistance purchases. Maintain the market manager manual to include current passwords, blank forms, schedules, directions, profit/loss sheet, etc. Submit weekly and monthly financial statements (vendor deposit, merch sales, reimbursement, manager invoice, monthly transactions. Produce and present an end-of-year report. Move market equipment around and from site to site weekly and seasonally in a personal vehicle. Create weekly email newsletter

  • participating in farmers markets as a manager or vendor.
Certification from MiFMA is preferred. Experience with food sales, food service, and food retail. Knowledge of gardening, agriculture, botany. As well as event planning, advertising, sponsorship programs, graphic design, photography. Good people skills both in management and in social work, like knowledge of food assistance and effective communication with all types of people. Market manager arrives at market at 6:30 am and cleans up market by 1:30 pm. The market moves to parking lot #2 for Summerfest and Oktoberfest and other various times when necessary throughout the season. All other administrative work is done at various times throughout the season and billed accordingly. Market manager arrives to market at 7 am and cleans up market by 1:30 pm. All other administrative work is done at various times throughout the season and billed accordingly. The City of Saline is accepting applications for a part-time contractor to successfully operate the summer and winter Farmers Markets. This position requires regular attendance on Saturdays year-round, May to Mid-November from 8 am to Noon, and then at Liberty School from Late-November to April from 9 am to 1 pm. Applicants must be able to pleasantly work with vendors and customers who attend the market as well as coordinate with vendors to schedule, plan and execute a market layout, manage money and log it through the City of Saline, and more.   • $25/hour DOQ, and the applicant chosen will work between 15-20 hours a week.
