Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this leadership position plays a critical role in driving sustainable revenue growth, strengthening donor and community partnerships, elevating SHC's visibility and storytelling, and expanding the organization's long-term impact throughout the Charlotte community. This is more than a fundraising leadership role — it is an opportunity to help transform lives and strengthen communities through meaningful philanthropy and strategic engagement. The Director of Development & Marketing will lead fundraising initiatives, donor stewardship, grants, events, sponsorships, communications, and brand awareness efforts while fostering collaboration, accountability, and mission alignment across the organization. The ideal candidate will be an innovative leader who thrives on relationship-building, strategic thinking, measurable results, and inspiring others to invest in SHC's life-changing work. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with organizational goals, including major gifts, grants, events, and digital campaigns. Manage and nurture relationships with donors, partners, and community stakeholders to foster ongoing support. Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising events that maximize visibility and revenue. Partner with grant writer to oversee the development and submission of grant proposals and applications. Utilize CRM software to track donor interactions, data collection, and campaign performance metrics. Manage digital marketing initiatives including email marketing campaigns, social media management, and website content. Oversee budgeting for development activities while ensuring efficient use of resources. Conduct research on prospective funding sources and community needs to inform strategic planning. Collaborate with internal teams on public relations efforts to enhance organizational visibility through media outreach and social media management. Lead volunteer management programs to strengthen community involvement and support fundraising goals. Ensuring effective administration and comprehensive documentation of Development activities and processes Experience Proven experience in nonprofit development or fundraising leadership roles with a track record of successful donor cultivation and raising a minimum of $1.5 million through diversified channels Strong background in event planning, events management, and digital marketing strategies tailored for nonprofit organizations. Familiarity with CRM software for data collection, relationship management, and reporting purposes. Bloomerang experience is a plus! Knowledge of social media management tools like Mailchimp or Constant Contact for email marketing campaigns. Experience managing budgets related to fundraising activities while maintaining transparency and accountability. Excellent negotiation skills paired with the ability to build lasting relationships with diverse stakeholders including donors, partners, volunteers, and community leaders. Understanding of nonprofit management principles along with familiarity in social services or community development is preferred.
