Role or Purpose of Position The ideal candidate for the Director of Digital Marketing role has a proven track record of developing, delivering, and measuring impactful digital marketing results, strategies, activities, and campaigns designed to increase brand awareness, partnerships, and revenue for a similar global health organization. They have rich experience delivering extraordinary web, social, and paid solutions. The Director of Digital Marketing will work from within the Marketing & Communications department, and across the organization, to generate appealing digital marketing campaigns, placements, solutions, and tools for diverse audience segments, including various funders (corporate partners, foundations, individuals, technical grant funders), technical audiences (academics, other implementing partners, global stakeholders working in maternal and young child nutrition), and mass market. The ideal candidate is data-driven and has extensive experience delivering effective organic and paid media campaigns, digital fundraising initiatives, and website solutions, all guided by a robust analytics program that effectively guides activities and informs departmental strategy. The Director of Digital Marketing reports to the VP, Marketing & Communications, sits on a team of other Director-level Marketing & Communications colleagues as a department management team, and collaborates with colleagues from the Marketing & Communications team as well as other departments across the organization (fundraising, programs, IT, finance), and oversees relationships with marketing and web agencies to execute initiatives that build the organization's brand awareness and support revenue generation. Major Duties and Responsibilities Digital Strategy & Execution Lead the development and execution of an integrated digital marketing strategy aligned with organizational goals for brand visibility, partnership growth, and revenue. Oversee all digital channels, including social, website(s), and email, including paid media, SEO/SEM, and digital fundraising solutions. Work x-departmentally to develop and deliver effective, globally oriented, digital solutions for our global teams (considering needs across Asia, Africa, and Latin America). Track digital marketing spend and ensure clear and responsible practices around the digital marketing budget as well as precision in forecasting and budgeting, optimizing spend and performance based on the insights. Website & Platform Management In partnership with third-party contractor/s: Lead and execute all web activities, builds, and solutions—in collaboration with contractors and designers—including website(s), landing pages, and other web real estate. Devise and drive web strategy to ensure Vitamin Angels web presence is cutting edge, innovative, and meeting the needs of our diverse stakeholders. Drive web maintenance, updates, and overhauls with passion. Manage/innovate web donation modules to drive online giving. Lead flow and conversion tracking across channels. Liaise with IT and Development departments to integrate and manage administrative and fundraising web software (E.g., GoFundMe Pro, Salesforce, etc.), support backend website development, and tracking of lead acquisition, donor retention, and web revenue. Monitor, troubleshoot, and provide solutions for analytics and tracking issues across Google Analytics, Hubspot, Salesforce integrations, and other 3rd party tools. Own Vitamin Angels presence on third-party websites and digital platforms, monitoring and proactively leading necessary outreach, updates, logo removals/additions etc. as needed to ensure accurate/impactful Vitamin Angels presence. Manage all web addresses, hosting, redirects, fees, and services. Paid Digital & Email Marketing In partnership with the Social Media Manager:
Drive and innovate paid media strategy, utilizing strong analytical capabilities, to deliver data-backed strategy, tactics, budgeting, and resourcing. Develop and execute exemplary SEM/SEO strategy. Work closely with content lead and social media manager to translate audience profiles into an effective targeting strategy across our diverse audiences. Lead email marketing strategy including list growth, segmentation, lead nurturing, retention strategies, and segmented donor journeys. Social Media In partnership with the Social Media Manager:
Guide social strategy, planning, and optimization Develop boosting and paid strategy and work with the team to execute, measure, and optimize Analytics, Insights & Optimization Develop and own a gold standard digital analytics program for the entire department—coordinating contributions from staff across the department and organization. Deliver strong regular reporting and leading the team in data-based decision making and strategy shifts, regularly offering concrete/reliable data and analysis to inform and make recommendations based on what's not working (do less) and what is working (do more) Establish and track key digital analytics, including defined benchmarks, KPIs, ROI, and ROAS. Track industry digital trends, tools, and best practices and provide innovative recommendations that can be directly applied to improve performance. Partnerships & Fundraising In partnership with Development and IT:
Develop strategy, working x-departmentally, to leverage marketing and digital tools and resources to support fundraising strategy. Design digital campaigns that support donor acquisition, retention, and partner visibility. Drive web giving strategies and tactics. Optimize digital journeys to drive engagement and conversion across audiences. Level of Decision-Making Within the bounds of Vitamin Angels' mission, values and policies, and sound professional practices, the Director of Digital Marketing has the discretion to use independent judgment to make decisions of significant consequence that affect Vitamin Angels' clients, partners, and employees. Organizational Relationships Vitamin Angels operates under a collaborative, matrix management model. The Director of Digital Marketing establishes their own daily work priorities and ensures that all responsibilities are conducted consistent with accepted best practices, sound professional judgment and within established schedule and budget. Qualifications and Skills (Required and Preferred) Minimum Requirements:
15 years of relevant work experience with demonstrated experience leading digital marketing, digital advertising, and digital fundraising; including rich experience building/managing websites and web solutions, email marketing, social, and other digital solutions BA/BS degree in marketing or equivalent practical experience Demonstrated experience managing digital marketing strategy, planning, execution, analytics, optimization, and teams Necessary Requirements:
Demonstrated experience developing and driving effective digital strategy including website, SEO/SEM, paid/display digital ads, marketing database, email marketing, social media, and digital fundraising Management experience and demonstrated ability to hold high standards and drive exceptional performance from a team Working knowledge of website design, UX, analytics (e.g., Google Analytics), and maintenance Experience with leading high performing digital annual giving campaigns and experience using digital marketing strategies and tactics to acquire new donors and driving revenue for nonprofits Experience building impactful email marketing programs, including lead generation, list management and segmentation, content strategy, lead nurturing, and ongoing donor retention strategies Experiencing delivering strong analytics programs and reports; strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking Experience leading or overseeing organic and paid strategy on various social media platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, and YouTube.
