Job Description
Young Environmental Consulting Group, LLC (Young Environmental) is a water and natural resources management consulting firm founded and operated on the principles of integrity, excellence, collaboration, and grace. Headquartered in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, Young Environmental specializes in water and natural resources management and planning, water resources engineering, stormwater management, environmental compliance and permitting, project management, and stakeholder engagement. Our team is directly involved in every step of project and business development, working collaboratively with clients, partners, and regulatory agencies through clear communication, attention to detail, and respect for natural, financial, and personnel resources. We are growing and seeking to add an experienced, strategic, and execution oriented professional to serve as a Marketing and Business Intelligence Manager. This position will assume the responsibilities outlined below. Position Overview The Marketing and Business Intelligence Manager leads Young Environmental's marketing, communications, and business intelligence functions , ensuring these efforts are strategic, data informed, and directly aligned with revenue generation, pipeline quality, and market positioning. This role serves as a key integrator across leadership, business development, and project delivery, translating market signals, financial data, and internal performance metrics into clear priorities, informed decisions, and measurable outcomes that support sustainable growth. Primary Responsibilities Marketing Strategy and Market Positioning Develop and implement marketing strategies aligned with firm growth goals and priority markets Define and refine client segments, service offerings, and competitive positioning Identify emerging opportunities, funding trends, and competitive dynamics Ensure marketing efforts are focused on qualified opportunities with a clear return on investment Business Intelligence and Revenue Forecasting Establish and manage a business intelligence framework to track: Pipeline health and progression (cold → warm → qualified → secured) 90‑, 120‑, and 180‑day revenue forecasts Client, sector, and market performance Translate data into clear, decision‑ready insights for firm leadership Identify revenue risks, gaps, and concentration exposure Support leadership in driving predictable revenue, backlog, and margin performance Marketing and Communications Leadership Provide leadership and direction for all marketing and communications functions Ensure consistent, high‑quality execution of: Proposal development and pursuit strategy External communications and brand messaging Website content, social media, and thought leadership Maintain a clear, unified voice aligned with Young Environmental's values Elevate firm visibility through targeted, strategic engagement rather than volume‑based activity Business Development Integration Partner with leadership and project managers to: Prioritize pursuits based on strategic value, fit, and probability of success Strengthen win strategies and proposal positioning Support relationship development with key clients and partners Ensure marketing efforts are directly connected to qualified leads, pursuits, and contract awards Performance Management and Accountability Define, track, and report key performance indicators tied to outcomes, including: Qualified leads by client and market type Pipeline conversion rates Proposal win rates Marketing return on investment Hold the marketing and communications team accountable to measurable results Continuously refine tools, processes, and workflows to improve efficiency and impact Project Management and Systems Awareness Maintain working awareness of project delivery workflows and financial controls to support informed planning Partner with project managers to understand workload, staffing capacity, backlog, and revenue timing Utilize data from Deltek and related project management systems to inform forecasting, pipeline tracking, and pursuit prioritization Ensure marketing and business intelligence outputs are operationally grounded and aligned with project delivery realities This position does not manage projects but must understand project delivery and financial systems well enough to support effective decision‑making. Infrastructure and Resource Management Oversee development and maintenance of a centralized marketing and proposal resource library Ensure accessibility and consistent use of: Proposal archives Marketing templates and brand assets Market data and analytics tools Drive adoption of standardized tools and resources across the organization Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises the communications team, including the communications manager and supporting staff Sets priorities, manages workloads, and aligns team efforts with firm goals and revenue targets Establishes clear performance expectations and holds team members accountable to outcomes Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field (Master's preferred) 8-12+ years of experience in marketing, business development, strategy, or related roles Demonstrated experience leading teams and driving performance accountability Consulting experience strongly preferred, particularly in professional services, engineering, or environmental sectors Proven ability to integrate marketing strategy with business intelligence, financial data, and operational inputs Strong proposal development and pursuit strategy experience Exceptional written, verbal, and strategic communication skills Working proficiency with project management and financial systems, including Deltek or similar ERP platforms Proficiency with AI tools and technologies to enhance efficiency, insight generation, and decision‑making Work Environment Hybrid position Expected to work in the office a minimum of one (1) day per week to support collaboration, team alignment, and leadership visibility Salary Range Targeted hiring range: $105,000 - $125,000, depending on experience and demonstrated ability to drive outcomes Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) program Paid holidays and PTO Flexible, hybrid work environment Application Information Interested applicants should submit a resume and cover letter to careers@youngecg.com.
