Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of the Director of Marketing and Programs position is to support the President and CEO in implementing the annual Board-approved Work Plan and budget. This work is guided by the mission statement, the Downtown Arlington Master Plan, the Business Improvement District (BID) Management Plan. The Director of Marketing and Programs oversees operational coordination across DAMC program areas including beautification, events, marketing, and security services. This role ensures programs and initiatives are implemented effectively, budgets are monitored, and contractors and staff are held accountable to organizational goals. The Director of Marketing and Programs will serve as a key operational leader within the organization and work closely with the President and CEO to translate strategic priorities into action. Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Planning Coordinate internal operations across staff and contractors, serving as the central point person for project management, scheduling, prioritization, and performance tracking to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of services. Support the development and execution of strategic action plans aligned with DAMC's mission, BID Management Plan, and contractual obligations with the City of Arlington, ensuring measurable outcomes and organizational accountability. Participate in the annual budget development process, contributing to forecasting, program prioritization, and resource allocation, and supporting ongoing monitoring of financial performance. Oversee organizational reporting requirements, grant strategy (including research, writing, and administration), and support fundraising efforts tied to matching or supplemental funding opportunities. Supporting Board and Advisory Council engagement through effective communication, meeting preparation, and stakeholder outreach. Contribute to staff development, organizational culture, and team performance through participation in hiring and/or contracting, training, evaluations, and internal planning efforts. Maintain awareness of industry trends and best practices in downtown revitalization, place management, and economic development, applying research to strengthen DAMC programs, and identify new opportunities. Marketing, Communications and Event Management Lead and oversee all marketing, communications, and branding programs and initiatives, including digital platforms, media relations, public messaging, content production, and promotional campaigns that enhance Downtown Arlington's visibility and identity. Supervise the planning and execution of DAMC events and programming, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, budget parameters, and community engagement objectives. Direct business and community engagement initiatives that support economic development, drive visitation, and strengthen relationships with property owners, businesses, and key partners. Serve as a representative and spokesperson for DAMC when assigned, and lead coordination of the Marketing Committee to guide strategy, gather input, and allocate sponsorship resources. Effectively and professionally interface with downtown business and property owners, partners, and prospects, working to expand awareness and accelerate investment. Public Space and Program Management Oversee the implementation and ongoing management of public space initiatives, including beautification programs, infrastructure enhancements, and placemaking activations that contribute to a vibrant and well-maintained downtown environment. Coordinate with service providers, vendors, and partners to ensure effective delivery of clean and safe services, landscaping, maintenance, parking programs, and district-wide improvements. Support the planning and execution of capital projects and activations, including public art, grants programs, and special initiatives that enhance the public realm and community experience. Maintain strong partnerships with the City of Arlington, the University of Texas at Arlington, and other stakeholders to advance district projects and ensure alignment across agencies. Lead coordination of the Beautification Committee and related programs, supporting community engagement and operational execution. Data, Research, and Economic Development Oversee the collection, analysis, and application of data related to district performance, including foot traffic, economic activity, and program outcomes, utilizing tools such as Placer.ai and other platforms. Support the development of regular reports and dashboards that communicate organizational impact, inform decision-making, and fulfill stakeholder and contractual reporting requirements. Maintain awareness and provide support for broader economic development efforts including business recruitment and development coordination. Advocacy, Administration and Management Serve as a liaison to key institutional and community partners, including the University of Texas at Arlington, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce, to strengthen collaboration and alignment. Support financial management processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring of organizational and program-level expenses in coordination with the Office Manager and President and CEO. Oversee intern recruitment and program development to support DAMC initiatives and build organizational capacity. Maintain strong relationships with public and private stakeholders to support advocacy efforts and ensure effective coordination across initiatives. Perform additional duties as assigned that contribute to the success of DAMC's mission and strategic objectives. Skills and Experience Required Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, Marking and Communications, Architecture, or related field. Minimum of three years professional work experience in downtown revitalization, place management, parks or public realm management, nonprofit programs, municipal operations, or other related fields. Experience on a PID or BID staff preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to strategically communicate organizational goals, translating goals into action. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, with demonstrated ability to manage staff and contractors. Ability to self-start, work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required. Skilled in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience using mapping or spatial tools such as GIS or Google Maps preferred. Must be able to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds associated with events, public space management, and district operations. Salary Range:
$68,000 to $85,000 Salary will be commensurate with experience. Relocation assistance may be available.
