Skooma is a boutique hemp dispensary located in the heart of Charlottesville's Downtown Mall. We are building a polished, modern, compliance-conscious retail brand in a fast-moving industry — and we are looking for a Marketing Manager who can help us sharpen our voice, elevate our visuals, and turn good ideas into clean, effective marketing materials. This is not just a "post on Instagram" role. We need someone who can help manage the look, feel, tone, and consistency of the Skooma brand across social media, in-store signage, product labels, digital graphics, promotional materials, email/text campaigns, and community-facing marketing. The right person will be creative, organized, fast-moving, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a regulated product category where good design must also be responsible and compliant. What You'll Do The Marketing Manager will work closely with ownership and management to create, organize, and execute marketing materials for Skooma.

Responsibilities include:

Creating graphics, flyers, menus, posters, product sheets, in-store signage, and digital ads Designing and updating product labels and packaging materials Creating branded marketing materials for promotions, events, and product launches Managing and improving Skooma's visual identity across all customer touchpoints Planning and posting content for Instagram, Facebook, and other social platforms Helping develop social media campaigns, reels, stories, and promotional posts Writing or editing clean, brand-appropriate captions and marketing copy Coordinating photo/video content for products, displays, staff, and promotions Maintaining consistency in logos, colors, fonts, layout, and messaging Helping create customer-facing educational materials about products Supporting email, SMS, and web marketing campaigns Working with management on seasonal promotions, sales pushes, and events Helping keep marketing files organized and usable for the team Ensuring marketing is polished, professional, and appropriate for a hemp/THC retail environment Required Skills Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially: Adobe Photoshop Adobe Illustrator Adobe InDesign Adobe Express or similar quick-design tools Experience creating social media content for Instagram and Facebook Strong eye for clean design, layout, typography, and brand consistency Ability to create both print and digital marketing materials Comfortable designing product labels, promotional signage, and retail materials Basic copywriting skills for ads, captions, flyers, and product descriptions Ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality Strong organization and file management skills Comfortable taking direction and turning rough ideas into finished materials Ability to balance creativity with compliance and brand discipline Reliable communication and follow-through Preferred Skills Experience with Canva, Meta Business Suite, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Springbig, or other marketing platforms Experience with retail, hospitality, cannabis, hemp, wellness, beauty, fashion, or lifestyle brands Photography or short-form video editing experience Experience designing menus, shelf talkers, labels, or retail displays Familiarity with Google Drive, shared folders, and collaborative workflows Basic understanding of paid social ads and boosted posts Ability to help develop campaigns from concept to finished execution Comfortable working with a brand that wants to feel modern, elevated, local, and a little irreverent — without becoming sloppy or gimmicky Our Environment We run a relaxed but professional shop built on respect — for the customer, for compliance, for the product, and for the team.
