Job Description

Forward Deployment Engineer Alterion San Francisco, CA Job Details Full-time 3 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Software engineering TypeScript Project stakeholder communication Python Full Job Description About Alterion Alterion is building the control plane for the agentic enterprise - enabling organizations to safely deploy, monitor, and scale autonomous AI agents with full visibility and governance. Our platform unifies semantic observability, dynamic policy enforcement, and distributed monitoring to ensure agent ecosystems remain trustworthy, compliant, and efficient at scale. Role Overview This position is for our Forward Deployment Engineering team. You'll be one of the first engineers our customers meet, and part of the team who decides what "Alterion in production" actually means. You will be joining a specialized force of engineers who support our large enterprise customers. Embedded with customer engineering, platform, and security teams; you'll deploy Alterion, help shape the product with customer feedback, and directly contribute code into how the product is built. Not pre-sales. Success is healthy production deployments, integrations that survive real load, and product capabilities that exist because you fought for them. What You'll Work On Lead end-to-end technical deployments of Alterion at enterprise customers, from initial integration through production rollout. Build custom integrations and adapters against customers' agent frameworks, model providers, and observability stacks, often as the reference implementation that ships back into the product. Configure and tune policies, evaluators, and dashboards for each customer's domain, risk profile, and operational model. Diagnose and resolve issues spanning customer environments, agent behavior, and Alterion's platform, often without a clean reproduction. Translate field learnings into prototypes, internal tools, and proposed product changes that benefit every future deployment. Partner closely with product, core engineering, and with founders; to feed sharp, well-scoped requirements into the roadmap. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with meaningful time in customer-facing technical roles (forward deployed, solutions, integrations, or similar). Strong Typescript, Python skills and experience building production services, integrations, or data pipelines. Hands-on experience working with LLMs (APIs or open-source models) or agent frameworks in real systems. Track record of shipping complex technical work in ambiguous, fast-changing environments. Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable moving between an engineer's terminal and a stakeholder's whiteboard in the same afternoon. Preferred Qualifications Experience deploying AI/ML systems, observability platforms, or developer tooling into enterprise environments. Familiarity with agent frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, custom orchestrators), MCP, or production GenAI stacks. Exposure to enterprise security and governance concerns (SSO, RBAC, audit logging, SOC 2, data residency). Experience as an early engineer at a startup, or in a founding forward-deployed function. Why Alterion Build foundational infrastructure for the next generation of AI systems Work directly with the founders on architecture and long-term technical direction Own meaningful, high-impact systems from day one Join a small, senior team that values depth, judgment, and quality Competitive compensation, meaningful equity, and the opportunity to shape a new category
