Field Marketing Rep DEPARTMENT
Sales and Marketing LOCATION
California (field-based) ABOUT GELATO CANNA
Gelato Canna is a multi-state cannabis brand operating across California, Michigan, and Arizona. We build culture-forward product experiences that meet consumers where they actually are — in dispensaries, at events, and on the platforms they spend their time on. California is a priority growth market, and we are building a field marketing engine on the ground that reflects how seriously we take this state. THE ROLE
The Field Marketing Rep is the face of Gelato Canna across California retail, events, and consumer touchpoints. This role owns brand presence in-market: how we show up at dispensaries, what consumers experience at activations, and how every touchpoint converts into followers, subscribers, and sell-through. This is not a desk job. The Field Marketing Rep spends most of the work week in the field — at dispensaries, at events, with retail partners, and alongside the brand ambassador team. The role reports directly to the Head of Sales and serves as the operational backbone of Gelato Canna's California field marketing function. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Execution Own day-to-day execution of assigned regional event calendar. Build and maintain relationships with budtenders, store managers, and dispensary marketing contacts across the retail footprint. Ensure brand presence at retail meets Gelato Canna standards — merchandising, POS, signage, and product visibility. Identify high-velocity stores, underperforming markets, and white-space opportunities, and adjust field deployment accordingly. Retail Activations Plan and execute pop-ups, budtender education sessions, and in-store activations across California dispensaries. Ensure assigned stores have quarterly training and staff samples Weekly PADs for assigned stores. Coordinate with retail partners on activation logistics: scheduling, staffing, inventory, compliance, and follow-up. Complete daily visit log questionnaire for all visits. Track activation ROI through sales lift, audience capture, and retail partner feedback. Audience Capture Convert every field touchpoint into measurable audience growth — Instagram and TikTok follows, email signups, and SMS opt-ins. Deploy capture mechanics at every activation: QR codes, contests, loyalty hooks, signup tablets, and incentive offers. Meet and exceed capture targets and track performance per event, per store, per shift. Partner with the Marketing Manager on creative, incentives, and offers that drive opt-in conversion. Reporting Submit weekly field reports covering activations completed, audience captured, retail relationship updates, and competitive intelligence. Maintain a central activation log with photos, attendance, capture numbers, and partner feedback. Surface insights from the field that inform brand, product, and retail decisions. KEY KPIS
Activations executed per month against the California calendar. Audience captured per activation:
IG follows, TikTok follows, email signups, SMS opt-ins. Retail partner satisfaction and store-level sell-through lift post-activation. Field marketing spend efficiency — cost per audience captured and cost per activation. WHAT YOU BRING
3+ years of field marketing, brand activation, or experiential marketing experience — cannabis, beverage, fashion, music, or lifestyle CPG strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience managing a team of brand ambassadors, contractors, or field reps. Comfort with the cannabis retail environment and a working understanding of California compliance basics (or a clear willingness to learn fast). A network:
dispensary contacts, event producers, ambassador candidates — or a clear track record of building one quickly. Strong systems thinking. You can build a process, document it, and hold a team accountable to it. Native fluency with Instagram and TikTok as marketing channels, not just personal accounts. Clean reporting and communication skills. Reliable transportation and willingness to spend most of the work week in the field across California. Clean driving record and ability to pass a state-required cannabis industry background check. Nice to Have Existing relationships with California dispensary chains and independent retailers. Past experience launching a brand in a new state or market. Hands-on familiarity with audience capture tools (Klaviyo, Postscript, Linktree, Beacons, etc.). Light content and design skills — Canva, basic photo/video capture for field documentation. REPORTING & STRUCTURE
