Outreach Specialist Powerhouse Gym Fort Lauderdale Fort Lauderdale, FL Job Details Temporary | Part-time | Full-time $18 - $22 an hour 3 hours ago Benefits Mileage reimbursement Employee discount Gym membership Qualifications Spanish Outdoor work English High school diploma or GED Content creation Negotiation Mobile devices Full Job Description Job Description Outreach Specialist Pre-Sale & Grassroots Marketing Position Title Outreach Specialist — Pre-Sale & Grassroots Marketing Department Marketing Reports To Director of Sales Direct Reports None (individual contributor) Location Field-based — Fort Lauderdale, Galleria Mall area Travel Daily local travel within a 2-3 mile radius of the club FLSA Status Non-exempt / Hourly + performance bonuses Employment Type Full-time/Part Time (20-40 hrs/wk) — duration of pre-sale + transition to ongoing role Position Summary The Outreach Specialist is the public face of our brand in the neighborhood. This is a high-energy, field-based role focused on generating qualified leads and founding memberships for our upcoming club pre-sale through grassroots marketing, community engagement, and local partnerships. The Outreach Specialist spends the majority of their day out in the community — distributing guest passes, attending and hosting local events, building relationships with surrounding businesses and high-rise buildings, and capturing contact information from prospective members. This role is the first impression of our club for the community. Success requires an outgoing, approachable personality, comfort initiating conversations with strangers, and the discipline to hit daily activity targets without direct supervision. It is the highest-leverage marketing role during the pre-sale period — every lead generated during pre-sale carries 2-3x the lifetime value of a lead acquired after grand opening. Key Responsibilities Daily Grassroots Outreach Distribute marketing materials (flyers, postcards, guest passes, branded swag) within a 2-3 mile radius of the club. Initiate 75+ in-person conversations daily with prospective members — at coffee shops, parks, transit stops, building lobbies, and busy retail corridors. Capture qualified lead information (name, email, phone, interest area) using the club's lead-capture system or app on every meaningful interaction. Hand out guest passes and trial offers strategically — not blanket distribution. Track who receives what so follow-up is targeted. Maintain consistent, energetic brand presence regardless of weather, foot traffic, or time of day. Local Business & Building Partnerships Identify and approach surrounding businesses (cafes, restaurants, salons, retail, co-working spaces) to establish cross-promotional partnerships. Build relationships with high-rise residential building concierges, property managers, and HOAs to secure resident-exclusive promotions. Negotiate flyer placement, table tents, employee-discount programs, and joint promotional events with partner businesses. Maintain a CRM or partnership tracker documenting every business contacted, conversation outcome, and next steps. Follow up consistently — partnerships rarely close on the first conversation; second and third touches close most deals. Event Activations & Tabling Plan, set up, and staff tabling activations at high-traffic local events — farmers markets, building events, festivals, community runs, charity events. Host or co-host at least two on-the-ground activations per week — these can be sponsored runs, pop-up classes in public spaces, smoothie giveaways, or partnership events with surrounding businesses. Coordinate logistics including event applications, permits, supplies, and break-down. Capture attendee contact information and qualify leads in real time during events. Photograph and document events for social media content; coordinate with the marketing team to amplify online. Pre-Sale Lead Generation & Conversion Support Drive qualified foot traffic to the pre-sale office or pop-up location for tours and founding-member sign-ups. Personally book tours and consultations directly from field interactions, not just leave it to follow-up. Partner with the sales team to hand off warm leads with full context — what was discussed, what their interest is, why they should be prioritized. Promote pre-sale offers, founding-member benefits, and limited-time pricing in every conversation. Maintain detailed activity logs in the Sales KPI Tracker and other reporting tools. Brand Ambassadorship Represent the club's brand standards in dress, tone, demeanor, and energy at all times in the field. Be knowledgeable about the club's offerings — equipment, classes, training programs, hours, pricing — to answer prospect questions with confidence.
Embody the lifestyle:
fitness-forward, approachable, professional, and locally invested. Generate social media content from field activities — short videos, photos, story content — and coordinate posting with the marketing team. Identify and recruit local micro-influencers, fitness enthusiasts, and community connectors as informal brand ambassadors. Qualifications & Experience Required High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred. 1-2 years of experience in field marketing, brand ambassadorship, retail/promotional sales, hospitality, or customer-facing roles. Outgoing, energetic personality with a genuine ability to start conversations with strangers. Reliable transportation and willingness to walk/stand outdoors for extended periods in any weather. Strong written and verbal communication; ability to articulate the club's value proposition naturally and adapt the pitch to different audiences. Self-motivated and disciplined — able to hit daily activity targets without direct in-person supervision. Comfort with rejection — most conversations will not convert; resilience is essential. Smartphone proficiency for lead capture, CRM input, photo/video, and social media. Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends (events and high-traffic times). Preferred Bilingual Spanish/English (highly preferred for Miami market — significant portion of local population). Existing local social media following or presence in the Brickell / downtown Miami fitness community. Prior pre-sale, gym membership sales, or brand ambassador experience in fitness. Experience with lead-capture apps, CRM systems, or simple event-management tools. Personal interest in fitness — active gym-goer, runner, group fitness participant, or similar. Existing network in the local restaurant, retail, or hospitality scene. Core Competencies Approachability — strangers feel comfortable talking to you within seconds. Energy & resilience — high output, every day, regardless of how the last conversation went. Listening — you hear what someone actually wants from a gym before pitching them on it. Curiosity about the neighborhood — you know which buildings have what kinds of residents, which restaurants are busiest at which times, where the new building openings are. Self-direction — you build your own daily route, track your own activity, and report results without being asked. Brand instinct — you know when to pitch hard and when to back off; you read the room. Schedule & Physical Requirements Standard schedule of 40 hours per week, with significant flexibility based on event calendar and peak community traffic times. Frequent evening and weekend work — community events and high-traffic times often fall outside standard business hours. Ability to stand, walk, and remain active outdoors for 4-6 hours per shift, in heat, rain, or humidity (Miami climate). Ability to lift and carry tabling equipment, signage, and promotional materials (up to 30 lbs). Comfort working in high-foot-traffic urban environments — crowds, noise, transit corridors. Compensation & Benefits This is an hourly non-exempt role with a base hourly rate plus performance-based bonuses tied to qualified leads generated, tours booked, and founding memberships closed. Total compensation is designed to reward high activity and quality output — top performers materially out-earn the base rate.
Benefits package includes:
Competitive hourly base + activity bonuses (per qualified lead, per tour booked, per membership closed) Complimentary club membership for the employee Branded apparel, gear, and outreach supplies provided Mileage reimbursement for local field travel Career advancement pathway: top-performing Outreach Specialists can transition into Membership Sales, Marketing Coordinator, or Pre-Sale Manager roles after the pre-sale period. Why This Role Matters Pre-sale is the single highest-leverage marketing window in a club's lifecycle. Members acquired during pre-sale — before the doors are even open — show up to grand opening already invested. They tell their friends. They become the loyal core that the club's culture is built around. The Outreach Specialist is the person who finds those members and brings them into the story before anyone else knows the club exists. Direct mail, digital ads, and social media can amplify awareness — but they cannot replace the trust that's built in a 90-second face-to-face conversation on a Fort Lauderdale sidewalk. This role exists because the most cost-effective lead source for a new gym in a dense urban market is still a human being who knows the neighborhood, knows the brand, and knows how to make someone curious enough to walk inside. How to Apply Interested candidates should submit a current resume and a brief paragraph (3-5 sentences) describing the most creative grassroots-marketing or community-engagement effort they have ever executed. No cover letter required — we want to see how you think, not how well you format a letter.
