Vice President of Information Technology PAY:
20 hours/week at $22/hour Summary Davenport University is seeking a Part-Time Automation & AI Integration Specialist (20 hrs/week) to support our ambitious Vision 2030 goal of automating 80% of critical processes. This is a one-year contract position focused on improving operational efficiency and directly enhancing the student experience by applying expertise in modern automation and AI technologies. The specialist will work with internal departments and stakeholders 20 hours per week, streamlining administrative tasks, and business processes to free up staff time for high-value student engagement and core mission activities. ResponsibilitiesProcess Analysis & Design:
Meet with business units to analyze existing workflows, document current processes, create process maps, and identify opportunities for automation and streamlining.Automation & AI Implementation:
Assist with designing and building automated workflows using tools like Python to connect disparate software systems.Technology Deployment:
Assist in deploying practical AI tools, including utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs) for knowledge management (e.g., student inquiry resolution) and machine learning for efficient feedback and data analysis.Reporting & Analytics:
Assist in the development of automated dashboards and real-time data solutions to eliminate manual report generation and enable data-driven decision-making.- Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values.
- Provide GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.
- Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in AI or related Computer Science program preferred, Current college student with appropriate mix of hands on experience, and relevant course work possible.
- Demonstrated experience in process analysis, workflow design, and optimization.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python for building automated workflows and system integrations.
- Familiarity with AI concepts and practical deployment of tools like Large Language Models (LLMs) and machine learning principles.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with various business units.
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and promote a positive, collaborative environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.
- Motivation, problem-solving capabilities, and a strong ethical compass.
- Unwavering work ethic.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background investigation.
- Comfortable in a business office environment with prolonged sitting and standing.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to: standard criminal background check and employment reference checks. Select positions may be subject to drug/alcohol screening.
- Business office environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain). Some travel between campuses required (own transportation).
- No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
