Job Description

Help grow a local food movement, not just a marketing calendar. Seasonal Roots is looking for a creative, organized, data-curious Growth Marketing & Brand Communications Strategist to help more families discover fresh, local food while supporting the farmers, makers, and small businesses who make our region so special. This is a great role for someone who loves the mix of storytelling, strategy, social media, digital marketing, and measurable growth . One day you might be planning a campaign around peak-season tomatoes, the next you might be analyzing conversion data, refreshing an email flow, coordinating content for local producers, or helping us figure out how to turn more curious visitors into loyal members. We are a small, growing company, so this is not a "stay in your lane" marketing job. You will have real ownership, direct access to leadership, and the chance to see your work move the business forward. Why this role is different We can offer something many bigger companies cannot: A flexible, casual work environment.

A team that actually cares about the mission.

Access to discounted fresh, local food.

The chance to help local farmers and small businesses grow.

A role where your ideas do not get buried under six layers of approval.

Work that connects marketing performance to real community impact. This is the kind of role where the right person can build a portfolio of meaningful work, sharpen their growth marketing skills, and feel proud of what they are helping put into the world. About Seasonal Roots Seasonal Roots connects families with fresh, local food from regional farmers, bakers, makers, and artisans. We believe local food should be convenient, accessible, and good for everyone involved: members, farmers, small businesses, and the communities we serve. Our work sits at the intersection of food, community, convenience, and sustainability. We are growing, and marketing is a key part of what comes next. What you will own You will help drive new member growth, brand awareness, and customer retention through a mix of digital marketing, content creation, email marketing, social media, PR, advertising, and brand communications. You will work closely with leadership to turn business goals into campaigns, content, and measurable marketing activity. Key Responsibilities Growth marketing and digital strategy Develop and execute marketing campaigns that help attract, convert, and retain Seasonal Roots members. Support paid and native advertising efforts across channels such as social media, Google Ads, email, PR, and other digital campaigns. Track marketing performance and use data to improve results over time. Monitor key metrics such as new member growth, cost of acquisition, customer retention, onboarding funnel performance, engagement, and ROI. Look for ways to improve how people discover Seasonal Roots, sign up, onboard, and become loyal members. Content and brand communications Develop and manage a clear, practical content calendar. Create and coordinate content for social media, email marketing, customer inserts, website updates, print materials, and campaigns. Help tell the story of Seasonal Roots, our farmers, our makers, our members, and the value of local food. Maintain a consistent brand voice that feels warm, trustworthy, local, useful, and human. Write, edit, proofread, and polish marketing materials before they go out into the world. Social media and community engagement Manage Seasonal Roots' social media presence and help grow our reach, engagement, and community. Lead the development and execution of a refreshed social media strategy. Create content ideas that are fun, useful, seasonal, and aligned with the brand. Identify what is working, what is not, and how we can keep improving. Cross-functional collaboration Collaborate with the sales team to generate marketing ideas, improve campaigns, and support business growth. Work with internal team members, farmers, makers, partners, and vendors to bring campaigns and stories to life. Support weekly priorities, which may include website updates, paid search campaigns, photography coordination, market research, proofreading, customer surveys, or campaign support. Social media and community engagement What success looks like In this role, success is not just "posting more" or "making things look nice." Success means helping marketing become a reliable growth engine for Seasonal Roots.
A strong performer will:
Build and maintain a useful content calendar. Improve social media consistency, engagement, and follower growth. Support measurable new member growth. Help reduce acquisition costs or improve campaign ROI. Improve email, onboarding, and conversion performance. Use data to make better marketing decisions. Create clear, compelling communications that strengthen the brand. Bring fresh ideas without needing constant direction. Follow through on details and deadlines. Help the team stay focused on the marketing activities that actually move the business forward. The person we are looking for You might be a great fit if you are: A strong writer who can make everyday food, farms, and local businesses feel interesting and approachable. Creative, but also organized enough to manage deadlines, campaigns, and details. Comfortable with both brand storytelling and performance metrics. Curious about why customers behave the way they do. Energized by small-company environments where people pitch in and figure things out. Interested in local food, small businesses, community, wellness, sustainability, or entrepreneurship. Ambitious, but not looking for a rigid corporate ladder. Able to take a broad goal like "grow membership" and turn it into practical marketing actions. Willing to test, learn, adjust, and keep improving. Key Competencies We are especially looking for strength in:

Strategic marketing thinkingDigital marketing executionContent strategy and campaign planningAnalytical and KPI-driven decision-makingBrand and written communicationsCross-functional project management Helpful experience Experience with some or all of the following would be helpful: Social media planning and execution Email marketing, especially Mailchimp or similar platforms Google Ads Google Analytics SEO or SEM Content calendars Customer acquisition campaigns Basic design or creative direction Wordpress updates Campaign reporting Google Workspace Community-based or local brand marketing You do not need to be an expert in everything. We care more about good judgment, strong communication, follow-through, creativity, and willingness to learn than a perfect checklist. Work environment Seasonal Roots has a flexible, casual, mission-driven work environment. We are a small team, which means your work will be visible and your ideas will matter. You will get to work on a brand that connects people to fresh local food, helps families eat well, and supports farmers and small businesses in a tangible way. And yes, there is access to discounted local fresh food, which is a pretty great perk if you like good produce, local baked goods, seasonal treats, and knowing where your food comes from. Compensation and benefits The annual compensation for this role is $40-45k. What we offer is a role with flexibility, autonomy, meaningful work, direct impact, and a strong connection to the local food community.
Benefits and perks include:

A quick idea for how Seasonal Roots could better tell its story. A writing sample, campaign example, social post, email, or portfolio link. We are less interested in a perfectly polished cover letter and more interested in how you think, communicate, and connect with the mission. A note on fit This role is probably not for someone who wants a highly structured corporate marketing department, a narrow job description, or layers of approval before trying new ideas. It may be a great fit for someone who wants ownership, flexibility, variety, and the chance to help a local food company grow in a thoughtful, creative, measurable way. At Seasonal Roots, marketing is not just about clicks and captions. It is about helping people eat better, supporting local producers, and building a stronger regional food system.
