We are the leading nonprofit preservation and history organization in Annapolis, Maryland, responsible for stewarding 13 historic properties including National Historic Landmarks. As we're deep into America's semiquincentennial celebrations and with HA's 75th anniversary next year, and the planned reopening of the James Brice House coming too, this is an exciting time to join our team! Summary:
Historic Annapolis (HA) seeks a creative and enthusiastic storyteller as our Marketing Specialist. Reporting to the Vice President, Communications, the successful candidate is responsible for executing marketing strategies to promote awareness of and engagement with HA's brand, events, and properties. The role involves managing our social media and digital marketing campaigns, and creating compelling content to enhance brand visibility, drive growth, and engage our target audiences. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assist in planning and executing marketing and communications campaigns across email, web, and print, including owned and partner media and paid advertising Create and curate accurate, compelling, and on-brand written and multimedia content for a variety of electronic and print platforms, including social media, email newsletters, our website, brochures, rack cards, and others, that resonates with and engages our audiences Oversee and manage content, scheduling, and engagement for HA's social media channels Regularly audit and create reports on HA's social media efforts to evaluate efficacy Manage HA's social media ads, including content creation, optimization, and monitoring of ongoing campaigns Assist in creating and managing email marketing campaigns, including designing templates, writing copy, segmenting lists, and tracking performance metrics such as open rates and click-through rates Ensure quality and consistency with HA branding, logo, voice, and messaging across all content and platforms Coordinate marketing efforts for special events and public programs, including attending events as needed to capture photo and video content EDUCATION and
EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field and 2-4 years of experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience must include marketing.
- Strong understanding of marketing principles and best practices, including digital marketing, content marketing, and social media
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with strong attention to detail and an ability to tailor messages and content to diverse target audiences
- Creative, organized, and self-sufficient, comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and constituents
- Strong proficiency with computers and software, including Microsoft Office, social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite), graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite)
- Keen interest in and knowledge of Maryland history a plus
- Photography experience a plus
- Experience with WordPress a plus
