ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) - Systems is a principal engineer role that provides the highest level of technical leadership and expertise. SMTS engineers are recognized technical experts who drive strategic technical initiatives, influence architecture decisions across the organization, and serve as technical mentors and advisors to the entire engineering organization. In your daily job you will: Strategic Technical LeadershipDrive technical vision and strategy for major systems initiativesDefine and influence system architecture and design decisionsLead technical evaluation of new technologies and approachesProvide technical guidance on complex, cross-cutting problemsRepresent engineering in technical discussions with customers and partners Technical ExcellenceDesign and architect large-scale, complex systemsSolve the most challenging technical problemsEstablish technical standards and best practices organization-wideReview and approve critical architecture and design decisionsEnsure technical quality and excellence across all deliverablesMentorship & DevelopmentMentor senior engineers (MTS) and technical leadsProvide technical guidance to managers and leadershipConduct technical training and knowledge sharing sessionsDevelop technical career paths and growth opportunitiesBuild technical capability across the organization Innovation & ResearchLead research and development of new technologiesEvaluate emerging technologies and industry trendsDrive proof-of-concept and prototype developmentContribute to open source projects and communitiesPublish technical papers and present at conference
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Key skills and competencies for succeeding in this role are: Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field12+ years of software engineering experience8+ years of experience with embedded Linux or systems programming5+ years in a senior technical leadership roleProven track record of technical leadership and innovationCandidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis - without requirement for any type of visa sponsorship/transfer, now, or at any time in future. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.

Must be a local resident of Greater Austin, TX, with ability to work on campus.
