Jun 23, 2026, 11:59:00 PM Description The Texas General Land Office (GLO) is seeking a Marketing Specialist III for the Communications Department. The Marketing Specialist III performs complex (journey-level) marketing work. Executes Veteran Land Board (VLB) outreach strategies to provide access to rural and underserved areas. Respond to Veterans requests for assistance by assessing service needs providing direct intervention, information, and referral services. Plans and coordinates VLB benefit fairs, workshops, community meetings; develops and distributes outreach materials and surveys and collaborates with the Veterans call service center to perform follow up contact. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned may include but are not limited to actively participating and/or supporting to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

The agency does so by preserving our history, maximizing state revenue through innovative administration, and through the prudent stewardship of state lands and natural resources. What Your Contributions to the GLO Will be:
- Builds and maintains database of Veterans contact information, initiates and conducts contact with new and existing Veterans.
Cultivates and maintains open channels of communication building strong, professional working relationships with Veterans service organizations in targeted areas to meet expected goals and objectives. Executes Veterans Land Board (VLB) outreach strategies to provide access to rural and underserved areas, key stakeholders, and Veterans organizations. Facilitates presentations highlighting VLB services and programs. Responds to inquiries and requests for program information. Attends workshops, conferences and other events as directed.
- Respond to Veterans requests for assistance by assessing service needs providing direct intervention, information, and referral services as indicated. Provides follow-up on actions taken with Veterans to assess outcomes and provide additional services as required.
- Provides travel documentation (authorizations and vouchers) to support weekly outreach activities and events to the marketing director. Compiles and produces data and reporting information on outreach activities including but not limited to attendance, information requests, verbal and written feedback, and results of any surveys that were distributed to determine efficacy of outreach strategies.
- Plans and coordinates VLB benefit fairs, workshops, community meetings and other events to promote VLB benefits, programs, services and provides assistance as indicated.
Develops and distributes outreach materials and surveys. Collects, analyzes, tracks data and provides outreach reporting to marketing director with recommendations for potential adaptations in marketing strategies. Contacts Veterans in targeted areas networking with community organizations, providing VLB brochures and relevant information to fit the needs of the community. Collaborates with the Veterans call service center to perform follow up contact after promotional events.
- Maintains individual records of Veterans served to included but not limited to services provided, outreach activities, surveys (participated in) and other general reporting as assigned within the CRM database.
Develop 50 a minimum of new Veteran contact monthly utilizing salesforce and digital databases to promote VLB services, programs and benefits. Represents VLB marketing at a minimum of one event in each of the following assigned counties: Travis, Williamson, Hays, Comal, Bexar, Guadalupe, Gonzales, Lavaca, Colorado, Caldwell, Fayette, Austin, Washington, Lee, Bastrop, Burleson, Brazos, Grimes, Madison, Robertson, Limestone, Falls, Milam, McLennan, Bosque, Erath, Comanche, Hamilton, Coryell, Lampasas, Burnet, Bell, Blanco, Kendall, Bandera, Real, Edwards, Kerr, Gillespie, Llano, San Saba, Mills, Brown, McCulloch, Mason, Kimble, Sutton, Schleicher, Menard, Concho, Tom Green, Irion, Sterling, Coke, Runnels, and Coleman counties.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Three (3) years experience in marketing, public relations, outreach or related work.
- Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-fo-year basis.
- Must be located in the Central Texas area.
- Must be able to travel and work weekends to attend public outreach events.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with Veterans Services Organizations.
- Familiarity of state and federal Veterans benefits.
- Experience in outreach event planning and coordinating public events.
- Experience managing social media campaigns, digital marketing content and email marketing platforms.
- Experience with graphic design, or content management systems.
- Knowledge of marketing analytics and reporting tools.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Knowledge of current marketing practices, and market reporting procedures.
- Skills in conducting presentations to individuals and groups.
- Ability to develop marketing strategies, outreach plans.
- Ability to analyze marketing data, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong and effective verbal & written communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and applicable marketing software
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/ customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required. Compensation and Benefits
