JOB DESCRIPTION
The Ongoing Product Development (OPD) Lead/Supervisor is a key role within the Research Development and Innovation (RD&I) Team. This role will support both the Andersen Aluminum business located in Goodyear, AZ and the Oceanside business located in Oceanside, CA. The Lead/Supervisor will execute complex product development projects with little supervision in addition to providing technical direction to the team. The Lead/Supervisor will supervise a team of design engineers, analysts, and a CAD designer. The Lead/Supervisor will not only have a strong relationship with and work closely with operations, but will also collaborate with senior and peer managers, external suppliers, manufacturing, quality, marketing, finance, sales, service, packaging engineering, materials engineering, legal, and code and regulatory. As a member of the enterprise RD&I team and the Tier 4 plant leadership teams, you will contribute to the strategy and execution of business objectives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute product design projects fulfilling both project leader and product design roles. Provide technical coaching (project planning & execution, problem solving, mechanical design analysis, test plan design, results analysis) to direct reports. Identify and deliver product design support and solutions targeted at business growth and operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery, and cost in the manufacture of window and door products. Create positive momentum on teams and deliver results (projects, tasks, people development). Establish and nurture an environment conducive to high levels of morale, employee satisfaction, and performance. Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of inputs in situations where limited standardization and data exists. Able to manage projects and provide detailed coaching on managing projects - ensuring success criteria are defined and delivered upon and creating and adhering to detailed timelines. Act as a liaison to coordinate and manage enterprise RD&I initiatives. Provide support to cross-functional initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent mechanical engineering experience 5-7 years of experience in R D design experience Experience in and passion for leading and developing a high-performance team Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in project management methodologies with demonstrated ability to drive product development projects to completion Self-motivated with strong intellectual curiosity Knowledge of Product Development Process (PDP), design specification and documentation methods Expected travel of
