Job Description
- Cotton & Specialty Crop Product Work Lea
- The Cotton & Specialty Crop Product Work Lead role sits at the heart of our Plant Biotechnology organization, where you work across functions and with L2 and L3 teams to drive product concepts and deliver the resulting biotechnology products for cotton, canola, and specialty crops; You ensure that traits have a global fit with other technological solutions across R D, connecting science, strategy, and market needs; In this role, you guide and prioritize all aspects of research to manage technological issues across all development phases and drive early stewardship and safety risk mitigation planning to enable market acceptance under increasingly stringent consumer headwinds.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The primary responsibilities of this role, Cotton & Specialty Crop Product Work Lead, are to: + Supervise scientific personnel and make technical and strategic decisions that require a high degree of planning and coordination so that numerous activities converge successfully; + Proactively engage stakeholders for key crop decisions, using communication, negotiation, and other influence techniques to deliver product concepts in line with crop priorities; + Leverage business acumen and scientific expertise to establish, promote, and defend the business value of product concepts, ensuring clear alignment between crop strategy and business strategy; + Use scientific and technical knowledge to shape feasible, globally relevant product concepts that create value, while effectively prioritizing crop needs and adjusting platform resources and budgets accordingly; + Establish and maintain a wide, trusted network of internal and external relationships, effectively identifying customers and meeting their needs through quality, timely results within set budgets and parameters; + Anticipate challenges and clarify opportunities for the platform, identifying mitigation strategies in advance to maintain product concept development and support successful project and phase completion; + Co-develop strategies for cotton and specialty crops with other functional areas and international partners, including L2/L3 teams, and provide recommendations to senior R D leadership on crop strategy and project advancement; + Source technologies to fill gaps in the trait portfolio through external parties, drive evaluations, internalize technologies, and provide recommendations on qualitative edit opportunities (e.

- Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: + Master's degree; + Demonstrated consistent initiative and innovation that result in significant technical, business, and competitive contributions; + Exceptional record of technical leadership, including the ability to identify areas with potential for major, commercially significant breakthroughs; + Experience interacting routinely with leading technical experts, division heads, and senior leaders from major functional areas on current and future business opportunities, and engaging internally and externally on technology drivers; + Ability to work effectively within a dynamic, cross-functional, multidisciplinary organization; + Strong project management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others effectively; + Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a business environment; + Proven ability to develop, align on, and implement strategy.
