  • YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The primary responsibilities of this role,
Technical Unit Lead:
Indices and Product Concepts, are to: + Lead a cross‑disciplinary unit that builds and operationalizes customer‑ and value‑driven selection indices, product concepts, and farmer value metrics to inform breeding decisions, product characterization, and commercial placement across crops and regions; + Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for a team of data scientists, engineers, customer insights specialists, economists/pricing experts, and commercial Subject Matter Experts, ensuring the unit delivers productionized, actionable metrics that drive measurable breeding and commercial outcomes; + Be responsible for the Unit for Indices and Product Concepts which is the Unit in charge of designing, developing, and delivering all the product Concepts for currently 98 pipelines of Corn, Soybean, Rice, OSR and wheat Breeding Programs; + Be responsible for index which are critical and used for Product Design Analytics (germplasm improvement), Inbred Advancement (Inbred advancement prescriptions), Hybrid Mining (Hybrid makeup prescriptions), Hybrid Advancement (Hybrid advancement prescriptions), and Playbooks (Expanded testing, positioning, brand deployment decisions) playing a critical role for all breeding Programs across the globe.
  • WHO YOU ARE
  • Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
+ Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field; + Relevant experience combining quantitative modeling, economics/pricing, data product delivery, or breeding analytics; + Practical experience building multi‑trait selection indices, economic weighting frameworks, or similar decision indices; + Track record leading cross‑functional teams (data science, engineering, product development, and commercial partners); + Strong applied quantitative skills: statistics/econometrics, optimization, mixed models, or genomic prediction familiarity; + Hands‑on familiarity with production data ecosystems (SQL, cloud platforms, APIs, CI/CD, containerization) and dashboarding/visualization tools; + Excellent stakeholder communication and the ability to translate technical outputs into commercial actions.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Domain experience in crop breeding, seed production, agronomy, or agri‑product commercialization; + Experience integrating models into customer‑facing tools or recommendation engines. This posting will be available for application until at least May 19, 2026. Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $150,080.00 to $225,120.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
