Travel & Work Location This role requires frequent travel for distributor meetings, trade shows, and key events, including some weekend travel. This is an onsite position based in Hazelwood, MO ; remote or hybrid work is not available. Position Overview We are seeking a Product Development Manager —a highly creative and commercially driven professional to lead product development, customer relationships, and business growth in our gift box and packaging business. This role is key to shaping the future of our product lines, identifying market opportunities, and expanding our customer base. The BoxCo Business Development Manager will report directly to ownership. The ideal candidate will drive product innovation by working closely with our creative team to develop unique, trend-forward, and customer-focused packaging solutions. You will also act as the primary point of contact for key customers , building strong, lasting relationships, understanding their needs, and translating insights into products that sell. Additionally, this role focuses on business growth , identifying opportunities with both existing and new accounts, and turning customer feedback and market trends into actionable strategies and viable products. Success in this position requires someone who combines strategic thinking, creativity, and exceptional relationship-building skills to grow our business while delivering products that delight customers. Key Responsibilities Product Development & Creative Direction Lead the development of new gift box concepts. Leverage a strong creative team to innovate in gift packaging. Identify design trends and new opportunities within the gift and packaging market. Manage the creative development calendar and product launch timelines. Work with suppliers to develop innovative packaging solutions. Coordinate new product launches and marketing materials with a marketing and creative team. Customer Relationships & Account Management Serve as the primary contact for key customer accounts. Maintain strong relationships with existing customers and ensure excellent service. Regularly engage customers to understand what products are selling and what new opportunities exist. Address customer concerns and coordinate internally to resolve issues. Coordinate with the in-house sales support team and shipping team to receive and deliver orders. Sales & Business Development Identify opportunities to grow the business with existing customers. Develop new accounts and partnerships within relevant markets. Translate customer insights into new product opportunities. Work with an e-commerce manager to establish an Amazon storefront. Supplier & Pricing Collaboration Work closely with supplier partners to develop products and ensure competitive pricing. Negotiate pricing and production terms while maintaining strong partnerships. Collaborate with procurement to improve cost efficiencies. Physical Requirements Ability to handle and review product samples , including lifting or moving boxes up to 25 lbs occasionally. Comfortable standing or walking for extended periods at trade shows, warehouse visits, or production facilities. Frequent travel for customer visits, distributor meetings, and industry events, including occasional weekend travel. Visual acuity and attention to detail for evaluating product design, materials, and packaging quality. Skills & Qualifications Candidates must have 5 - 7 Years of experience in gift packaging, stationery, greeting cards, or related consumer gift industries. Strong creative instincts and understanding of packaging design and presentation. Excellent relationship-building and communication skills. Ability to combine creative product development with commercial decision-making. Skilled in cost, margin, and pricing analysis. Effective presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple timelines. Familiarity with industry trade shows. Experience working with suppliers preferred. Strong, proven background in product development within gift packaging, stationery, greeting cards, or closely related consumer gift industries.
