Job Description

Director of Product Development Dual Fuel Corp. - 3.0 Mount Vernon, NY Job Details Full-time From $150,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health savings account Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Flexible spending account Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications AI models Customer communication Bachelor's degree Customer relationship management Product strategy Senior leadership Full Job Description About Dual Fuel Dual Fuel Company LLC is a fully integrated energy solutions provider, with $50M+ in annual revenue, 100+ employees, and 14 years of operation in the NYC metro area. Unlike typical mechanical contractors, we design, install, control, and service the heating and energy systems we deploy, all under one roof. Our in-house teams of welders, plumbers, pipefitters, licensed engineers, controls engineers, and field technicians work side by side, eliminating the silos that slow this industry down. We specialize in energy-efficient upgrades for multifamily and commercial buildings, helping owners cut operating costs, improve resident comfort, and meet NYC's decarbonization mandates.
What sets us apart:
we build technology. Since 2016 we've developed Axxon, our proprietary building automation and energy management platform, with custom hardware controllers, wireless sensors, desktop and mobile apps, and advanced analytics. We monitor our customers' equipment around the clock so we can fix problems before tenants ever feel them. Think of us as automated rapid response for buildings. Over the past year we've gone further, embedding AI deeply into how we operate and building AI-powered agents, automations, and data pipelines that are reshaping how a mechanical contractor runs. We're looking for a leader to own that engine and the Axxon platform together. The Opportunity This is a rare seat: own a mature, revenue-generating proprietary platform and the AI and automation engine transforming the business behind it. As our first Vice President of Product, you will set and drive the roadmap for Axxon while leading the company-wide AI, automation, and data infrastructure agenda. You will report directly to the CEO, with a dotted line to the President, and lead our software engineering and product team.
This is a build-and-manage role:
you are as comfortable shaping strategy as you are in the tooling, prototyping yourself, and shipping. What You'll Own Axxon Product Roadmap Own the full roadmap and lifecycle for the Axxon platform, prioritizing the features and releases that deliver the most customer value.
Software:
desktop and mobile (iOS/Android) interfaces; equipment performance summaries, job tickets and job summaries, real-time technician routing, real-time gas and electric usage, energy alerts and KPIs; customer onboarding; and the training and resource library.
Energy intelligence as product:
emissions and LL84 reporting, gas-usage analysis, and savings/ROI tooling that turns building data into decisions customers can act on. AI & Automation (Company-Wide) Own the AI and automation roadmap across the business, turning manual, document-heavy workflows into AI-powered agents and automations. Have a deep understanding of our business systems, processes, customers, and technology, and prioritize the product roadmap based on business impact. Ship operational automations such as call and email-to-ticket creation, maintenance scheduling optimization, collections management, and proposal generation. Lead the AI integration layer connecting Axxon, our ERP, and our data warehouse. Plan and execute the roadmap to take us from a proprietary front end to an independent harness that allocates between open-source and proprietary models based on question complexity.
Champion AI adoption:
train staff on best practices and make AI fluency part of how Dual Fuel works. Data Infrastructure & Intelligence Own our data platform, including the cloud warehouse that mirrors our field-operations data and powers analytics, automation, and machine learning across operational, CRM, and city housing and buildings data. Stand up observability and reporting so the business runs on evidence. Apply machine learning to operational data to surface maintenance, performance, and margin opportunities. Digital Customer Experience & Internal Systems Integrate service into the Axxon app: service requests, technician ETA tracking, feedback ratings, service history, and online invoice payment. Own customer communication around releases, features, and updates. Team Leadership Lead and grow the software engineering and product team (employees and contractors). Partner with the CEO on Axxon product strategy and with department leaders to find the highest-leverage automation opportunities. What Makes This Role Different Be on the cutting edge where physical meets digital. We want a builder who manages: someone who can set product strategy and still open the tools and prototype with AI directly. AI may be eating software, but merging AI into the physical services world is just beginning. Who You Are 10+ years in product, with 5+ years in senior product leadership. Hands-on, current fluency building with AI tools (LLMs, agents, and automations). A track record shipping complex B2B products, ideally in building automation, HVAC/energy, vertical SaaS, or IoT hardware and software.
Comfort with data layers:
warehouses, pipelines, analytics, and applied ML; you partner credibly with engineers on architecture. Experience managing engineers, contractors, vendors, and external design partners.
Customer-centric:
you turn user needs into prioritized roadmaps and real launches. A strong communicator, equally effective with executives, engineers, technicians, and real-estate owners. Bachelor's degree required; technical or engineering background strongly preferred. Nice to Have Technical depth in building automation: real-time monitoring, alarm logic, and IoT integration. Familiarity with the NYC real-estate market, multifamily operations, and Local Law compliance (LL97, LL84). Experience standing up cloud data infrastructure (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks) and ML workflows. Background bridging hardware and software product lines. What We Offer Competitive base salary, commensurate with experience. Performance bonus potential.
Comprehensive benefits:
health, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off. The chance to own and scale a mature proprietary platform, and the AI engine behind it, with direct, real-world impact on building efficiency and decarbonization across New York City.
Pay:
From $150,000.00 per year
