The Product Manager is responsible for driving new product development while managing and optimizing existing product lines within the automotive aftermarket industry. This role provides deep product expertise and strategic leadership across the organization, helping guide product vision, competitive positioning, and lifecycle management. The Product Manager analyzes market trends, customer needs, and competitive offerings to identify product opportunities and coverage gaps. This position works cross-functionally with Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, Catalog/Content and Customer Support to deliver differentiated products that meet market demand and strengthen the company's competitive advantage. This role balances strategic planning with hands-on execution, ensuring that new products are successfully developed, launched, and supported throughout their lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Product Strategy & Market Analysis- Conduct market and competitive research to identify new product opportunities and coverage gaps.
- Analyze competitor product offerings and identify interchange opportunities to drive new item development.
- Develop product strategies that align with customer needs, industry trends, and company growth objectives.
- Identify opportunities to create competitive advantages through product design, features, or pricing. Product Development and Management
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to define product specifications, features, and development requirements.
- Identify and source samples (OEM or aftermarket) required for benchmarking and development.
- Coordinate sample purchases from dealerships or online retailers and ensure delivery to manufacturing partners for evaluation.
- Support the development process by ensuring products meet required performance, quality, and cost standards. Product Lifecycle Management
- Maintain and manage product master data including competitor pricing, resale pricing, and product lifecycle status.
- Monitor product performance and make recommendations for improvements, updates, or phase-outs.
- Ensure product parity with competitor offerings when differences in features or content exist. Quality & Customer Support
- Review labor claims and test results to determine root cause and resolution.
- Communicate claim outcomes and product updates with customers and internal teams.
- Work closely with engineering to resolve product issues and implement improvements.
