Job Description

Product Manager Location:
Millersville, PA About the Opportunity This is not a traditional Product Manager role. This position is best suited for someone who thinks and operates like a General Manager —an individual who enjoys owning a business, making strategic decisions, and driving operational performance. You will have full ownership of a technical product line, leading both its commercial strategy and financial performance while partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, and Finance. The ideal candidate understands that product management extends well beyond product development. Success in this role requires balancing customer demand, manufacturing capacity, pricing strategy, profitability, operational constraints, and long-term growth initiatives. If you enjoy making business decisions, influencing cross-functional teams, and owning the success of an entire product portfolio, this is an exceptional opportunity. Position Overview Reporting into senior business leadership, the Product Manager will have full P&L responsibility for an established industrial product line serving customers across heavy industrial and infrastructure markets. This individual will be responsible for developing product strategy, driving profitable growth, optimizing operations, and serving as the business leader for the product portfolio. Although this is an individual contributor position, it offers significant organizational visibility and requires the ability to influence multiple functional groups without direct authority. Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness & P&L Leadership Own the complete P&L for the assigned product line, driving both revenue growth and profitability. Develop annual operating plans, forecasts, budgets, and long-range business strategies. Monitor financial performance, margins, pricing, market share, and key business metrics. Identify opportunities to improve profitability through pricing strategy, operational improvements, and portfolio optimization. Product Strategy & Portfolio Management Develop and execute the long-term product roadmap aligned with business objectives. Evaluate market opportunities, customer needs, and competitive trends to drive sustainable growth. Manage the entire product lifecycle, including new product introductions, product rationalization, and end-of-life planning. Develop pricing strategies that maximize both competitiveness and profitability. Manufacturing & Operations Partnership Partner closely with Operations and Manufacturing leadership to balance customer demand with production capabilities. Develop a strong understanding of manufacturing capacity, lead times, scheduling constraints, and operational efficiencies. Collaborate with Engineering on capital investment projects, manufacturing improvements, and new product launches. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, delivery, productivity, and cost reduction. Work cross-functionally to resolve operational challenges impacting customer satisfaction or business performance. Commercial Leadership Partner with Sales to develop growth strategies, improve customer penetration, and identify new market opportunities. Gather Voice of Customer feedback and translate market needs into actionable business strategies. Support strategic account initiatives through product positioning and competitive differentiation. Utilize market intelligence and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and emerging industry trends. Cross-Functional Leadership Serve as the business leader for the product line, influencing Engineering, Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and Customer Service. Build alignment across departments to ensure business objectives, operational priorities, and customer commitments remain synchronized. Lead strategic business reviews while communicating product performance, opportunities, risks, and action plans to leadership. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred. 5+ years of Product Management experience within a technical B2B manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience managing a technical product portfolio throughout its lifecycle. Previous P&L ownership or significant financial accountability strongly preferred. Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production planning, capacity constraints, scheduling, lead times, and operational decision-making. Experience partnering closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, and Finance. Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority. Strong analytical, financial, and strategic planning skills. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. Why This Opportunity? This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of an established product line with significant growth potential. You'll have the autonomy to shape business strategy, influence operational performance, and directly impact financial results while working alongside experienced leaders across engineering, manufacturing, sales, and finance. For someone who enjoys building a business rather than simply managing a product, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact.
