Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the VP Marketing, the Product Manager (PM) defines the strategies, direction, and growth plan for one or more product lines. The PM must understand both internal and external product and service needs and competitive environment. The PM must manage product line support teams while working with the relevant functional groups to assure a comprehensive strategy is developed and implemented. The strategy should balance sales and operational needs, while maximizing market share and profitability. The PM must be an excellent communicator, able to lead without direct authority, understand the sales and customer environment and possess good business acumen. The PM resolves related business issues and effectively develops personnel.
PRODUCT LINES
Mining related products sold by Swanson Industries including but not limited to: Product lines primarily produced at MTS which includes, but not limited to, Longwall and related equipment. Other related hydraulic product lines, mining or industrial as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support customers and the sales team in the related product lines from a technical perspective by making visits to customers with the sales teams as necessary. 2. Direct and manage all Requests For Quotes for product lines. 3. Work with related supervisors to ensure the efficiency of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping products or materials. 4. Monitor invoices, work orders, consumption reports, and demand forecasts in order to estimate peak delivery periods and to optimize customer service and inventory levels. 5. Monitor inventory holdings for non-moving materials, sales opportunities and return credits. 6. Review service and distribution of products is optimal to maximize profitability and customer service. 7. Visit customers and vendors as related to the product line and report needs and action items related to maximizing profitability and customer service. 8. Search for new ideas and ways to improve the provision of products and services seeking to maximize profitability and customer service. Stay aware of and aggressive toward competitive products activities. 9. Provide product line specific monthly reporting that tracks product health (sales and margins), user engagement, and strategic progress. Core reporting includes roadmap progress and KPIs to company goals. 10. Meet routinely with supervisor to review ideas to improve product line performance. 11. Receive, process, and provide logistical support to customer orders. 12. Assist in the management of relationships with vendors relaying and/or resolving problems quickly and efficiently. 13. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally to meet with customers to oversee various projects or meet periodically with vendors in maintaining relationships. 14. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, meetings, workshops, etc. 15. Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor. 16. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing/operations. Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills. Proficient in MS Office. Effective organization, planning, and time management skills. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Proven ability to meet deadlines and follow directions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job duties consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Frequent walking and/or standing is required. Frequent bending, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying of parts. Ability to work safely and adhere to the Swanson Safety System in daily job duties.
