Ventura, CA, Hybrid The Commercialization Developer leads the transition of prototypes into scalable, production-ready products that meet Patagonia's standards for quality, consistency, cost, and manufacturability. This role requires deep technical expertise in apparel construction, fit, grading, manufacturability, and product data accuracy, along with strong judgment and creative problem-solving. This role works closely with Product Development, Production, Quality, Size & Fit, Line Management, and global factory partners. You build alignment across functions, tailor communication to different audiences, lead effective decision-making meetings, and help balance team workloads when needed. What You'll Do Lead commercialization of assigned styles from prototype approval to production readiness, preserving design intent, functionality, and scalable execution for bulk production. Use sound judgment and analytical problem-solving to address construction, manufacturability, costing, and data issues. Serve as a technical expert in construction, fit, grading, and production, identifying risks early and driving solutions. Manage daily communication with factory partners on key areas including samples and prototyping, construction and costing, and timelines and issue resolution. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete product data in Patagonia's PLM system, run integrity checks, and lead issue resolution. Oversee size set approvals to keep bulk production on schedule. Review cost sheets and construction methods to provide manufacturability and cost guidance for sourcing decisions. Support re-sourcing initiatives and onboarding of new factory partners while ensuring alignment with Patagonia standards. Provide flexible support across adjacent responsibilities, including development support, data maintenance, and sample evaluation during peak workload periods. Use 3D tools to support business initiatives.

Experience You Bring Degree in a related field (Product Development, Apparel/Textile Design, Technology, Merchandising, Engineering, or equivalent experience). 3-5 years of experience in product development, commercialization, or technical apparel roles. Strong project management skills with proven ability to manage multiple styles and timelines. Experience creating and maintaining technical specifications, BOMs, and construction documentation. Understanding of garment construction, materials, patternmaking, costing, and manufacturing processes. Experience evaluating prototypes, size sets, and pre‑production samples. Proficiency with PLM systems, 3d, Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and Microsoft Office tools. Ability to write clear, accurate, and actionable product specifications and evaluations. Ability and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Hiring Range:
$99,300- $113,800 USD Annual At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget. The Hiring Range reflects where in the range we intend to hire for this role. Workplace Location Overview This position is Hybrid, with a standard schedule of Tuesday - Thursday on-site and remote work on other days.
