This role owns product vision, roadmap, backlog, and lifecycle management, and serves as the primary product lead across engineering, design, documentation, marketing, and go-to-market teams. This position focuses on hands-on product leadership ensuring that products are competitive, customer-driven, high-quality, and aligned with client's broader business strategy. Essential Job Functions The Lead Product Manager works as part of the core software development organization and partners closely with engineering, UX/UI, technical writing, marketing, sales, and customer facing teams to deliver successful software products.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide day-to-day product leadership, guidance, and mentorship to product managers, product owners, product evangelists, technical writers, and UX/UI partners. Act as the senior product escalation point, supporting decision-making across product, engineering, and business stakeholders. Facilitate tradeoff decisions between investment, schedule, scope, and customer value. Ensure delivery schedules and development activities are coordinated across cross functional teams to release products on time and within budget. Participate in short- and long-term strategic planning for market direction and product vision. Support and facilitate the product development lifecycle (PDLC), ensuring customer and market needs are translated into compelling, market driven product solutions. Lead and support product summits, customer calls, or focus groups, ensuring insights are reflected in roadmaps and prioritization. Lead and support sales training and product knowledge efforts for internal teams and partners (distributors, VARs, integrators). Partner with marketing and commercial teams to support product launches and promotion efforts. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences. Ability to lead and influence cross functional teams and individual contributors, with or without direct performance management responsibility. Demonstrated ability to provide coaching, mentorship, and product leadership within matrixed organizations. Proven experience owning products through the full software development lifecycle, from concept to production and support. Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and experience working closely with engineering teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance customer needs, technical constraints, and business priorities. Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and work independently on complex projects. Experience organizing and presenting product information to internal stakeholders, customers, and partners. Experience, Educational Requirements and Certifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in software product management, owning products from concept through launch and lifecycle management. Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams in a matrixed organization. Product management training, courses, or certifications are a plus. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
