Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of the Senior Transportation Engineer (Supervisor), the incumbent performs calibrations, testing, and analysis on soils, aggregates, asphalt concrete, binder, steel, concrete samples, and Concrete Masonry Units (CMU) at the Southern Regional Laboratory (SRL) and in the field. The incumbent works closely with the Senior Transportation Engineer to deliver clear, effective, and timely technical information to clients based on laboratory testing results. Responsibilities include preparing daily quality assurance reports for various material sources and appropriately reporting the results. The incumbent also coordinates the work of laboratory personnel to ensure timely completion of material testing. In addition, the incumbent plays a key role in obtaining and maintaining American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) laboratory accreditation and ensuring compliance with required Quality Management Systems. Assignments are based on Divisional and Departmental needs.
