You should have a strong foundation in technical SEO and link building, combined with the ability to plan and scale content production that builds authority and drives visibility across Google, Google AI Overviews, and emerging answer engines like ChatGPT search integrations. You think in terms of entities, clusters, and long-term authority - not just keywords - and you know how to structure, optimize, and monitor content to perform in an environment that blends search, generative AI, and user intent. Job Summary As an SEO specialist at Dean Garland, you will own the strategy and execution for client visibility across search and AI-driven ecosystems. This includes technical optimization, link acquisition, local SEO, and content planning. You will use data to identify opportunities, guide writers and editors on what to produce, and ensure every piece of content supports organic growth and authority. Responsibilities Research and plan keyword clusters that inform both SEO and AI search visibility strategies Audit and improve site architecture, speed, and schema implementation Oversee large-scale content planning including outlines, briefs, and optimization frameworks Coordinate with writers and editors to ensure content is structured for performance and topical authority Manage link building campaigns that prioritize quality, relevance, and domain diversity Lead local SEO efforts including Google Business Profile optimization and citation management Monitor and report on rankings, traffic, and AI visibility using Semrush, Search Console, and AgencyAnalytics Track and interpret visibility across Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT results, and other emerging AI discovery tools Stay informed on algorithm updates, entity optimization, and the evolving relationship between SEO and generative AI Skills Proven experience with SEO tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or similar platforms for keyword research and site audits. Strong understanding of search engines' ranking factors including metadata, keywords, backlinks, and site architecture. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web development fundamentals to implement technical SEO enhancements. Familiarity with content management systems like WordPress for content optimization and site management. Experience with web analytics platforms such as Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics for tracking performance metrics. Knowledge of conversion optimization techniques to maximize organic traffic effectiveness. Ability to utilize Google Tag Manager for tracking user interactions and setting up custom tags for data collection. Excellent communication skills for collaborating across teams on digital marketing initiatives involving SEM campaigns and social media strategies.
