Today we manage paid search, paid social, and lead generation for more than 1,500 small and mid-sized businesses — and we're actively expanding into new markets, new verticals, and new service lines. The team is now ~90 strong and growing, and we're investing in the leaders who will help us scale the next chapter. We believe in transparent leadership, transparent comp, and shared success. We compete with the big agencies on results — and we beat them on speed, ownership, and the trajectory of where this business is going. The Role We're hiring a Director of Paid Search to lead our paid search team — 8 to 10 managers responsible for the day-to-day performance of our entire 1,500+ account portfolio. You'll set the technical bar, build the standards, drive performance, and develop the people. This is a leadership seat with real ownership. You'll work alongside agency leadership, drive our lead-generation partner relationships, and have direct influence on how the agency scales into new markets and service lines. If you've built and run a paid search team and you're ready to set the strategy and standards for an agency-scale operation, this is your seat. What You'll Own Lead a team of 8-10 paid search managers — hire, coach, develop, and hold the bar high. Set the optimization standards, testing frameworks, and performance benchmarks for a 1,500+ account portfolio. Drive measurable improvement in lead volume, call quality, click performance, and ROI across the book. Own our lead-generation partner relationships, including campaign integration, data flow, and ongoing performance optimization. Help scale paid search infrastructure and team capacity as we expand into new markets, verticals, and service lines. Build and refine the systems and tooling that make portfolio-scale management possible. Be the senior technical escalation point on top-tier accounts and complex client situations. Keep the team — and the agency — current on platform capabilities (Performance Max, Demand Gen, automated bidding, GA4, server-side tagging, Consent Mode v2). Own portfolio-level reporting and performance reviews with agency leadership. Partner with Directors of Paid Social, Client Success, and Analytics to deliver integrated performance for shared accounts. What Success Looks Like First 30 days: Assess each team member's strengths and gaps, audit the top 50 accounts, and identify the three highest-leverage process improvements. First 60 days: Optimization standards documented and rolled out across the team, performance dashboards live, weekly team rhythms in place. First 90 days: Measurable lift in portfolio performance, hiring plan for any team gaps, and your team has adopted your standards as the way we work. What You Bring 5+ years of hands-on paid search experience across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads — agency or in-house at scale. 3+ years of direct people management in paid search, including experience managing senior ICs or other managers. You've built and developed a team — not just inherited one — and can tell us about a hire who's now better than you were at their stage. A track record of measurable results you can walk us through — e.g., rebuilt account architecture on a 6- or 7-figure-spend account, took a portfolio from X CPL to Y, or scaled lead volume meaningfully without sacrificing quality. Be ready to talk through the before/after and the decisions you made to get there. Specific accounts you've owned end-to-end (anonymized is fine). You can name them, describe what changed, what you did, and what the numbers looked like 90 and 180 days later. Deep expertise in modern paid search: Performance Max, Demand Gen, automated bidding strategies (tCPA, tROAS, Maximize Conversions), keyword and audience strategy, negative structures, and account architecture. Strong working knowledge of GA4, Looker Studio, Google Tag Manager, server-side tagging, Consent Mode v2, and enhanced conversions — you understand what's changed in tracking and why it matters for performance. Call tracking experience (CallRail, WhatConverts, or CallTrackingMetrics) — critical for our local services book. Lead generation ecosystem fluency. Experience with lead-gen partners or marketplaces (call networks, lead aggregators, performance partners) is a strong plus. Paid social fluency on Meta and LinkedIn — you don't need to be the deepest expert, but you understand it well enough to direct the work and coach a team running cross-channel programs. Analytical mind. You can pull the story out of a messy dashboard, spot what's broken, and prioritize the fix that matters most. Strong communicator. You translate technical performance into business outcomes for clients and leadership without losing the audience. Tech Stack You'll Live In Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, GA4, Google Tag Manager, Looker Studio, SEMrush, CallRail (or equivalent), partner platforms in the lead-gen ecosystem, and our internal Tech Tasks Board for portfolio-scale workflow management. Why Melon Local Growth trajectory. We're actively expanding into new markets, new verticals, and new service lines — the leaders we hire now are the leaders who will run what this becomes. Real ownership. You'll build the team, set the standards, and see the results show up in the business — not in a quarterly review three layers up. Transparent leadership. You'll know what we know — the wins, the losses, the numbers. We don't manage by mystery. Career upside. As we scale, the people who help us scale move with us. The Director seat in this org chart wasn't here two years ago, and the next one won't be either — until someone earns it. Competitive base, real bonus, full benefits. We pay fairly for our stage and we're transparent about how the upside works. In-office in Las Vegas, NV. Our team works together because the work is better — and the growth is faster — when we're in the room. Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $70,000+, based on experience and demonstrated proficiency. Health, dental, and vision insurance. Paid time off and paid holidays. 401(k) retirement plan eligibility. Professional development support, including certification reimbursement and conference attendance.
