Calling all Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Specialists with experience in a highly matrixed, heavily regulated environment. Our pharma partner is seeking an SEO Specialist to join their team in a long-term freelance capacity. This role requires hands-on experience with Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)-leveraging AI/LLMs to enhance search strategy, content development, and performance in evolving AI-driven search environments. This is a fully remote or hybrid position based in Indianapolis, IN that will be up to 40 hours per week through the end of the year, with potential to extend. A laptop will be provided. Candidates who are willing to work in varying time zones across the globe to support business partner requests are preferred. Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize keyword strategies across customer groups and brand areas, aligning with both traditional SEO best practices and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) approaches.
Conduct technical site audits to maintain optimal site health, improve crawlability/indexation, and identify content opportunities.
Leverage generative AI tools (LLMs such as ChatGPT, etc.) to drive SEO strategy, including:
Content recommendations and brief creation
Keyword clustering and search intent analysis
Scaling content production and optimization workflows
Translate GEO strategies into actionable execution, ensuring content is structured for visibility in both traditional SERPs and AI-driven search experiences.
Partner with cross-functional teams (content, analytics, web, etc.) to align SEO/GEO initiatives across digital channels.
Analyze and report on SEO performance, clearly demonstrating the impact of optimizations (traffic, rankings, engagement, etc.) and tying efforts to measurable outcomes.
Monitor and interpret industry trends, including algorithm updates and the evolution of AI-driven search (GEO), and apply insights to ongoing strategy.
Identify, test, and scale new optimization opportunities across both traditional and AI-powered search environments. Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on SEO experience, including technical, on-page, and content strategy.
Demonstrated experience with Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and applying LLMs to SEO workflows, with the ability to speak to specific examples and outcomes.
Proven ability to use AI tools beyond basic content generation, such as:
Driving content strategy decisions
Improving efficiency and scale of SEO execution
Enhancing search performance through AI-informed insights
Strong understanding of traditional SEO fundamentals and how they integrate with emerging GEO strategies.
Proven ability to measure success and clearly articulate results, including defining success metrics and reporting on performance.
Working knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEO tools such as SEMrush and Screaming Frog.
Experience working in heavily regulated environments.
Digital agency experience preferred.
A Bachelor's Degree is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI is preferred.
Experience with Adobe products, including Adobe Analytics and AEM, is preferred.
