Availability on the weekends may be required dependent on outreach events that are scheduled. We offer flexible work hours, based on the student worker's availability. This is an on-campus position. Job Description Summary Assists the Communications Coordinator with planning, writing, and designing of promotional materials and assists with outreach events, social media and displays for the Wilson Library Makerspace. Specific Duties Assist with planning and attending Makerspace outreach events and workshops. Assist with creating Makerspace displays, promoting services and selling products made in the Makerspace. Create partnerships with various units on campus. Assist with designing various promotional materials for the Makerspace (videos, print, and digital) utilizing Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or other creative software programs Create content to maintain Makerspace's presence on Instagram Assist with writing content, proofreading, and revising marketing and promotional materials Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Effective communication (verbal and written) Strong attention to detail Enjoys being creative Ability to work independently or as part of a team Understanding of various social media platforms Preferred Qualifications Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva Knowledge of Graphic Design principles (layout, typography, etc.) Knowledge of photography techniques Knowledge of university policies and procedures. Previous sales or customer service experience. Passion for technology Benefits Summary Employees are eligible for the following benefits: One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours. University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan - can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds. In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.
