Job Description
The Marketing & Communications Specialist strengthens public awareness, drives engagement, and promotes Girl Scout programs and events by developing and implementing marketing, advertising, and media strategies. In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to the creation of impactful campaigns, coordinate cross-channel communications, and ensure consistent brand presence. The Specialist collaborates with departments across the Council, serving as a subject-matter resource while working with the MarCom Director to coordinate, plan, execute, and evaluate initiatives that advance the mission of the Girl Scouts and the goals of the MarCom Department. In addition, the MarCom Specialist will provide administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the MarCom department. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences Ability to tell compelling, mission-driven stories that highlight impact and community engagement Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and social media management tools (e.g.
Hootsuite, Buffer) Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ability to collaborate across teams, including programs, fundraising, and leadership Basic understanding of digital marketing and audience engagement strategies Ability to track, analyze, and report on performance metrics (engagement, reach, campaign results) Professional and responsive communication skills when interacting with community members and stakeholders Abililty to organize and carry-out a multi-faceted workload with strong attention to detail, follow instructions, work independently as needed, and complete deadline-sensitive tasks Willingness to work a flexible schedule, sometimes including evenings and weekends Preferred Skills Familiarity/experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (e.g. Salesforce) Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) Working experience with social media analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta) Basic graphic design skills using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud Experience with collaborative workflow applications like Asana or Monday Experience with email marketing and SMS platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Simple Text) Experience supporting fundraising campaigns, events, or donor communications Basic photography, video editing, or multimedia content creation skills Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress) Passion for youth leadership, community impact, and the mission of organizations like Girl Scouts of the USA
