Job Description

Social Media Marketing Intern Join the marketing team behind the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, one of the largest and longest-running Renaissance festivals in the United States. Each year the Festival welcomes hundreds of thousands of guests for a season filled with entertainment, food, shopping, and immersive experiences. This internship offers hands-on experience in social media marketing, content creation, event promotion, and public relations. Interns will help promote a major live event, support large-scale marketing campaigns, and engage thousands of guests through impactful digital content. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in social media, digital marketing, PR, live events, and entertainment marketing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media Manage daily posting across Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, and other priority platforms. Maintain and update a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely messaging. Draft, edit, and format posts that align with brand voice and campaign goals. Monitor social media channels for audience sentiment, accuracy, and emerging trends. Track performance metrics and report insights that help improve engagement and reach. Identify, invite, and coordinate influencer and content creator partnerships. Content Creation Capture photo and video content for social media and marketing campaigns. Film and edit short-form video content (Reels, TikTok-style clips, behind-the-scenes features, etc.). Gather visual and written content before the Festival and throughout Festival weekends. Manage incoming content ideas from entertainers, crafters, and partners. Coordinate with performers and vendors on specialized content opportunities. Manage influencer visits, coordinate on-site experiences, and track engag ement from influencer content. Marketing & Communications Assist with preparing press kits, newsletters, and media materials. Help coordinate on-site media visits, interviews, and media pass distribution. Support media relations and assist with press interactions during the Festival. Assist with media buying and marketing campaign support tasks. Help review and support email newsletter development. Track and document press coverage and media exposure. Ensure sponsorship deliverables are fulfilled through social media and digital promotion. Assist with additional marketing projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience managing or creating content for social media platforms required. Interest in marketing, public relations, digital media, or event promotion. Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Public Relations, or a related field (Class of 2025 or earlier). Strong writing, editing, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience creating short-form video content. Familiarity with social media analytics and scheduling tools. Experience with photography, video editing, or design tools (Adobe, Canva, CapCut, etc.). Passion for live events, entertainment, or experiential marketing.
HOURS & SCHEDULE
Full-time:
approximately 40 hours per week. Some weekend hours required during the Festival season (August 22 - October 4, including Labor Day weekend). Additional evening or weekend hours may be required for special events and marketing activities.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work will take place both in office and on-site at the Festival. Must be comfortable working in a busy outdoor event environment. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 pounds). Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
