Job Description
Overview The Communications and Social Media Intern will support the People Operations and Business Development Manager in executing strategic marketing initiatives and strengthening the company's social media presence. This internship offers hands-on experience in social media marketing, brand messaging, community engagement, and small business communications strategy within an established, 25-year community business. This opportunity will also offer general product knowledge and understanding of product-specific sales-flow. The ideal candidate is a student or recent graduate who is creative, organized, proactive, and eager to gain real-world marketing experience while contributing meaningfully to brand growth and community connection. This role is a hybrid position and will offer flexible scheduling per approval by the supervisor. Candidates can expect an estimated commitment of 4-10 hours per week (hybrid) . Compensation is provided per approved social media post + other notable perks, referrals, etc. A formal letter of recommendation and referral is also offered upon completion of the internship. Key Responsibilities Social Media Content & Execution Develop, draft, and schedule engaging social media posts/reels aligned with brand voice and marketing strategy. Create captions, messaging, and light graphic/video content (using tools such as Canva or similar platforms). Support consistent posting cadence across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.). Assist with content planning calendars and campaign brainstorming. Monitor engagement and provide basic performance insights (likes, shares, comments, reach). Community & Partnership Support Assist in promoting community events and partnerships through digital platforms. Attend select networking or community events when appropriate to capture content and support brand visibility. Track partnership communications and ensure proper escalation to staff in an effort to maintain and grow strong external relationships. Collaboration & Strategy Participate in: In-person weekly 1:1 meeting with supervisor (Required) In-person weekly team meeting (Required) Contribute ideas for marketing growth, audience engagement, and brand storytelling. Support alignment between sales floor experiences and digital marketing messaging.
