Job Description

Salary:
$20.00 Hourly The YMCA of Greater New York is here for all New Yorkers — to empower youth, improve health, and strengthen community. Founded in 1852, today the Y serves a diverse population of more than half a million New Yorkers who learn, grow, and thrive through programs and services at our 24 branches. Community is the cornerstone of the Y. Together, we connect active, engaged New Yorkers to build stronger communities. To help fulfill our mission, we cultivate a culture of learning, leading, and collaboration to enhance community impact. Through our talented staff and "LEAP" career framework (Leadership, Empowerment, Accountability, Personal Growth), we are committed to a people-first approach that fosters trust, inclusion, growth, and development for all. The YMCA of Greater New York Association Office is seeking an Intern for their Marketing and Communications Department who will perform tasks that provide exposure to the organization's mission, vision, and values and raise awareness of the Y's community impact. The Intern will support the Y's efforts to organize and improve our digital assist management systems, including our photo library. The Intern will also assist in developing engaging social media content focused on brand-aligned visual storytelling. This internship will run from May 18, 2026, through August 14, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
Work cooperatively with all staff, including attending staff meetings to gain a better understanding of the Y's marketing and communications strategy. With direct support from the Director of Digital Content and Social Media, assist in organizing, streamlining, and optimizing our digital asset management systems. Develop original, thoughtful social media content for the Y Association and sample content to be used by Y branches. Travel to branches and events, as needed, to capture photos and videos that support the organization's social media growth efforts. Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all staff and participants. Understand the YMCA's core values and reflect them through copywriting and visual curation. Attend any relevant training/webinars made available by the branch, Association, or Y-USA. Adhere to all Department of Health, YMCA of Greater New York, and funder standards, expectations, and regulations.
Desired Skills & Experience:
High School Diploma required. College credits preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft systems, including Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with the capabilities of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. Experience with short-form video and image production for social media publishing. Strong writing, communication, and research skills. This is an on-site, hybrid role based out of our Manhattan Office. How to
Apply:
If you would like to be a member of our dynamic team, please complete our online application and submit your résumé and a thoughtful cover letter that explains your interest in the role and our organization. If you are a current YMCA employee, please submit your application through the Internal Career Site in Cornerstone.
