Yes Location CountyAlbany Street AddressNYS Office of Mental Health 44 Holland Avenue CityAlbany StateNY Zip Code12229 Job Specifics Duties DescriptionUnder the general direction of the Director, Public Information, the incumbent will be responsible for creating and managing digital content and specific social media channels and participate in the development of new digital communications and applications. Duties to be performed include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Updates and manages the agency's digital content, including video and digital images, and the social media channels used to store these files, ensuring that they are up-to-date and relevant.
  • Record and edit videos of OMH and Governor's events; still photography for the Public Information Office.
  • Develop proposals and create videos to promote many different facets of the agency's work, including advancing recovery as a primary component of its mission. Assist in OMH recruitment efforts.
  • Maintain agency's video equipment with a focus on components that will need replacing/upgrade within two years and identifying additional gear that will assist productions.
  • Participate in the redesign of the agency's website working with the NY.Gov Digital Team to develop a new content strategy.
  • Collaborates with agency program managers to identify, cultivate individuals and subjects to promote the agency's mission.
  • Educates program areas on how to develop effective video projects, scripts, etc.
  • Plans, writes, and edits a variety of draft digital materials and prepares the final copy.
  • Communicates and coordinates with the Cluster Digital Information Officer to collaborate on digital campaigns, development, and implementation of OMH and business systems.
  • Manages and grows the agency's video and digital image social media channels on a day-to-day basis to build branding.
  • Participates in social media task force meetings, project team meetings, conference panel appearances, and networking opportunities.
  • Assists the communications team in researching and responding to inquiries received via digital channels.
Minimum QualificationsTransfer Opportunity:
Candidates must have permanent competitive or 55b/c status as a Public Information Specialist 2 (Digital Content), Grade 23, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to the Public Information Specialist 2 (Digital Content) title.
Open Competitive:
Seven years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications. Associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years, respectfully.
