Social Media Specialist (Part-Time)

About the Role We are looking for a creative, well-rounded Social Media Specialist to join a small but growing team in Chantilly, VA. This role spans three photography and video-related businesses run by an owner who also holds a full-time job. These are established side ventures that are actively operating and have real room to grow with the right person helping tell their stories online. This is a part-time position, approximately 5 to 10 hours per week, primarily on weekends with some remote work during the week. We are looking for someone who can take ownership, think creatively, and bring both traditional social media instincts and current AI skills to the table. What Makes This Role Different The social media landscape has changed faster in the last two years than in the previous ten. We want someone who understands both sides of that. You should know how to shoot a compelling behind-the-scenes video on location and also know how to use AI tools to produce realistic, high-quality content that performs. Ideally you are comfortable working with Claude and Higgsfield together to develop and execute campaigns, including AI-generated video and photo content that looks and feels like authentic user-generated content. If you are the kind of person who experiments with new tools on your own time just because you find it interesting, that matters to us more than a specific number of years on a resume. What You Will Be Doing Managing social media channels across our three businesses (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, NextDoor and others) Developing and executing content strategies that combine traditional and AI-powered approaches Shooting behind-the-scenes video on-site at our Chantilly, VA studio on weekends Creating AI-generated video and photo content using platforms such as Higgsfield Writing copy that sounds natural and engaging, with or without AI assistance Using tools like Claude AI to help develop campaign concepts, captions, and creative direction Tracking what performs and adjusting your approach accordingly What We Are Looking For Strong grasp of traditional social media strategy, content planning, and copywriting Hands-on experience with AI content creation, including the latest video and photo generation models Familiarity with Higgsfield as a platform and its range of creative tools Comfort using Claude as a creative and strategic partner in building campaigns Ability to produce or direct realistic, authentic-feeling content including AI-assisted user-generated content Someone local to the Chantilly, VA area who can be on-site on weekends A fast learner who keeps up with how quickly these tools are evolving Self-directed and easy to work with Hours and Pay Part-time, approximately 5 to 10 hours per week Primarily weekend availability required at our Chantilly, VA location Some content and planning work can be done remotely during the week $20 to $30 to start per hour based on skills and portfolio How to Apply Please include all three of the following: A brief note about your background and what draws you to this kind of work A link to your portfolio, content examples, or social media work you have created A description of any AI tools you are currently using for content creation, including video and photo generation To confirm you have read the full posting, please include the word iris somewhere in your note.
