Job Description

Social Media SpecialistPosition OverviewOur non-profit client is looking for a Creative Project & Social Media Specialist who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role blends project coordination, social media management, and graphic design to support impactful community programs and initiatives.

Hybrid (Detroit, MI - some onsite required for events and team collaboration) 2-3 daysKey Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain social media strategies and editorial calendars across platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, TikTok) to meet marketing and business goals. Create, curate, and publish high-quality multimedia content, including copywriting, visuals, short-form video, and stories, ensuring alignment with brand voice and messaging.
Manage day-to-day community engagement:
monitor comments and messages, respond promptly and professionally, and escalate issues to relevant teams. Track, analyze, and report on social media performance using analytics tools; derive insights and recommend optimizations to improve reach, engagement, and conversion. Collaborate with marketing, design, product, and sales teams to coordinate campaigns, promotions, and product launches; ensure social activity aligns with broader marketing initiatives. Coordinate content production workflows and external vendors, including freelance creators and agencies, to meet deadlines and quality standards. Design and adapt graphics and visual assets for social posts, ads, and stories using graphic design tools; ensure assets meet platform specifications. Plan and execute paid social advertising in collaboration with the paid media team, including audience targeting, budgeting, and performance tracking. Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, and competitor activity; pilot new formats and tactics to test effectiveness. Maintain content and asset libraries, document best practices, and contribute to process improvements for greater efficiency. Qualifications Experience in social media, marketing, or communications (nonprofit/public sector a plus) Strong design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) Familiarity with tools like Hootsuite, Mailchimp, WordPress Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at once Strong writing and communication skills
