This role will support day-to-day content creation, social media planning, game-day coverage, sponsor activations, and fan engagement. The ideal candidate understands social media trends, short-form video, sports entertainment, and brand storytelling. This position requires someone who can create engaging content quickly, write strong captions, capture moments in real time, and help bring the energy of Knoxville Ice Bears hockey to fans online. Key Responsibilities Manage and assist with daily content across the team's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, and other emerging platforms Create, schedule, and publish engaging posts, stories, reels, shorts, graphics, captions, and promotional content Develop content for game days, theme nights, ticket promotions, community events, sponsor activations, player features, and team announcements Capture photo and video content during games, practices, community appearances, promotional events, and behind-the-scenes moments Assist with live game coverage, including score updates, player highlights, intermission content, final scores, and postgame recaps Work with the marketing, creative, ticketing, sponsorship, and game presentation teams to support organizational goals Monitor comments, messages, mentions, and fan engagement in a professional and brand-appropriate manner Identify trending audio, memes, formats, and platform updates that can be adapted for team content Maintain a consistent brand voice that reflects the energy, personality, and professionalism of the Knoxville Ice Bears Track social media performance, including engagement, reach, impressions, follower growth, and content trends Organize social media assets, photos, videos, graphics, templates, and campaign materials for future use Assist in promoting ticket sales, merchandise, special events, theme nights, community initiatives, and sponsor campaigns Qualifications Degree or coursework in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, Sports Management, Journalism, or a related field preferred Experience managing social media accounts for a brand, team, business, school, organization, or personal content channel Strong understanding of major social media platforms, especially Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and YouTube Shorts Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite , including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and/or Illustrator Proficiency with Canva for creating social graphics, templates, promotional posts, and branded content Proficiency with CapCut for editing short-form video content, reels, TikToks, trends, and quick-turnaround social videos Ability to write clear, engaging, and brand-appropriate captions Basic photo and video capture skills using a phone, mirrorless camera, DSLR, or similar equipment Strong attention to detail, including grammar, spelling, formatting, and brand consistency Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and game days as needed Preferred Skills Experience working in sports, entertainment, live events, or media production Photography, videography, or short-form video editing experience Familiarity with hockey terminology, game flow, and fan culture Experience using Meta Business Suite, TikTok tools, YouTube Studio, or social media scheduling platforms Strong graphic design sense with the ability to create clean, brand-consistent visuals Understanding of sponsor fulfillment, promotional campaigns, and fan engagement strategies Comfortable interviewing players, coaches, fans, or staff for social content Ability to recognize strong content moments in real time and turn them into engaging posts quickly What You'll Gain Hands-on experience creating and managing content for a professional sports team Real-world portfolio pieces across social media, digital marketing, promotions, and live event content Experience working in a fast-paced sports and entertainment environment Opportunities to contribute creative ideas to campaigns, theme nights, sponsor activations, and fan engagement initiatives Exposure to marketing, sponsorship, ticketing, game presentation, and live event production Ideal Candidate Creative, energetic, and self-motivated Passionate about sports, entertainment, social media, and fan engagement Understands what makes content timely, shareable, and engaging Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with quick turnarounds Strong communicator who can collaborate across multiple departments Professional, reliable, and able to represent the organization well online and in person Brings fresh ideas to the table and is willing to execute them Can balance fun, personality-driven content with professional brand standards Additional Notes This position may require attendance at Knoxville Ice Bears home games, community events, sponsor activations, practices, and other team-related appearances. The Social Media Specialist / Coordinator should be prepared to work outside traditional office hours during the hockey season, including evenings and weekends.
