The Social Media & Content Assistant supports CWSA's digital presence across LinkedIn, Medium, X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram,
TikTok, and other channels, helping plan, draft, schedule, organize, and repurpose content for CWSA's services, Climate Systems
Insider research, Workshop Lab, and public-sector intelligence.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Help manage and organize CWSA's social media content calendar
Draft social media posts for LinkedIn, Medium, X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other channels
Repurpose CWSA research, blogs, reports, workshop content, and service pages into short-form posts
Support Climate Systems Insider content promotion and research-backed educational posts
Support Waste Diversion Action Lab, Composting for Communities, and Workshop Lab outreach content
Assist with captions, hashtags, post formatting, short scripts, content ideas, and engagement tracking
Help schedule or prepare posts for review before publishing; monitor comments and basic engagement
Track basic metrics such as impressions, likes, shares, comments, clicks, and follower growth
Coordinate with the Graphic Design & Brand Assistant to request or prepare graphics
Assist with newsletters, Medium articles, short videos, event promotions, and public education campaigns
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Basic background, coursework, volunteer work, school project, or experience in social media, content creation, communications,
marketing, journalism, public relations, or digital media
Familiarity with major platforms such as LinkedIn, Medium, X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok
Basic writing, captioning, and proofreading skills; ability to follow brand voice and approval processes
Comfortable using Google Docs, spreadsheets, Canva, or simple scheduling tools
Strong attention to detail; reliable communication and ability to meet deadlines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience managing or helping with a social media page, school account, organization page, club account, business page, or
personal content portfolio
Interest in environmental, municipal, public-sector, sustainability, waste, recycling, composting, climate, or infrastructure topics
Experience with Canva, CapCut, Buffer, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, Medium, or basic analytics tools
Comfortable creating short-form video ideas, post captions, carousel copy, or blog summaries
Writing samples, social media samples, or content portfolio preferred
PHYSICAL & COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary to light work primarily computer-based; prolonged sitting at a workstation
Ability to use keyboard, mouse, and monitor for extended periods (4-8 hours/day)
Visual acuity sufficient to read documents, websites, spreadsheets, and digital screens
Effective written and verbal communication via telephone or video conferencing
Strong cognitive ability including sustained attention, detail orientation, and structured thinking
No heavy lifting required occasional handling of documents up to 10 lbs
