Social media specialists are entry-level, individual contributors to the Missionary Training Center social media accounts by creating engaging, mission-aligned content, and assisting with moderation and performance evaluation. Ideal for college students interested in social media, communications, marketing, or digital storytelling who want real-world experience in content creation, analytics, and working within a structured approval environment. Reports to Curriculum Manager. This is an on-site (Provo Missionary Training Center), 1 year fixed-term part-time position working up to 20 hours per week. Student-friendly schedule offers some flexibility around classes. Responsibilities Create and edit social media content (photographs, short videos, stories, captions) for official MTC social media accounts Revise content based on feedback from supervisors and stakeholders Assist with content planning and account strategy Prepare posts for approval and scheduling Monitor analytics and performance trends in Meta Business Suite Help prepare simple performance summaries and insights Support comment moderation and inbox responses as needed Assist with additional communication or content projects as needed Qualifications Required Experience managing at least one social media account Basic skills in video editing and photography Familiarity with Meta platforms and basic analytics Ability to learn new platforms for content editing and project management Strong written and verbal professional communication skills Ability to manage projects and deadlines Ability to follow brand, content, approval guidelines, defined processes, and receive direction Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to collaborate virtually, give and receive feedback, and work effectively amid change, ambiguity, and pressure High School Diploma or equivalent Maintain current temple recommend Ability to meet basic physical requirements including prolonged sitting and computer use as well as filming missionaries Preferred Missionary service for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Coursework or interest in communications, marketing, advertising, media, design, or related fields Experience with Adobe tools Experience serving as a social media manager or leader for a club, organization, or cause Experience creating short-form content Application Requirements Please submit a resu me with links to social media accounts managed or a creative portfolio (class projects welcome) What You'll Gain Professional experience managing high-visibility social media accounts Exposure to analytics, strategy, and stakeholder review processes Mentorship from experienced communications professionals About Us Church employees find joy and satisfaction in using their unique talents and abilities to further the Lord's work.
