Western Specialty Contractors is currently looking for self-motivated, top notch individuals to help serve our customers as a Caulker + Glazer at our Austin, TX location. If you are a self-motivated individual with great work ethic and the personality to help with customer satisfaction, then we would love to meet you! As a member of the branch production team, you will be responsible for the performance of work within a particular work area and in accordance with generally accepted standards of the crafts. Analyzing and interpreting building plans. Interpreting work orders and determining the materials required. Measuring distance from reference points. Calculating angles and determining the vertical and horizontal alignment of courses. Fastening bricks with wire clamps or cement. Working safely on scaffolds and swing stages at various heights. Using equipment and tools effectively to perform basic construction tasks. Prepares surfaces by cutting and/or grinding out problem areas of walls and floors. Cleans and preps problem areas prior to the application of material. Cuts out, repairs, preps, packs and caulks joints of walls and floors. Sprays, brushes, rolls or applies material to surfaces of walls and floors as specified. May work below grade by preparing and applying waterproofing materials to the foundation walls and footings. Applications include spraying, rolling, and brushing materials, nailing panels, or gluing sheet goods. May be required to rig mobile and stationary scaffolding in accordance with corporate guidelines. Requirements To be qualified for this job, experience in a trade or craft is preferred. To be considered, you must be able to demonstrate sufficient reading, writing and math skills to comprehend and explain company safety policies and material instruction. Physically, workers must be able to stand or walk for long periods; lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more; climb ladders, scaffolds and other objects carrying tools and equipment; and see (naturally or with correction). Ability to work at heights, extreme temperatures and to wear company's safety equipment is essential. Must be able to use logical step-by-step procedures in working with different materials using a variety of skills. Must be able to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and be able to judge straight lines, spaces and proportions. Must be able to demonstrate sufficient reading, writing and math skills to comprehend and explain company safety policies and material instruction. The ability to read drawings is necessary. Identify existing and predictable hazards in work surroundings, including working conditions that are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees. Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more; climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds and other objects and carry tools and equipment; and see well (either naturally or with correction). Abilities to work at heights, at extreme temperatures and to wear company's safety equipment are essential. Practical construction experience preferred. Must have own "hand tools of the trade." May be required to work weekends, nights, out of town and at heights. Must have reliable transportation. Benefits Western offers a competitive wage. We provide medical, dental and vision insurance with the company paying over 80% of the premium. A $10,000 Life insurance and $10,000 Accidental death and dismemberment benefit is provided and is 100% company-paid. Generous 401k plan. Must work at a minimum of 30 hours per week to be eligible for benefits after 90 days of employment. Compensation for this role is determined using a variety of factors, including experience, skills, internal equity, market benchmarks, and the cost of labor in the different geographic locations where we operate. In addition to base pay, this position may also be eligible for: Beneficial ownership in the Company through Western's Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
