Job Description

The material handler is responsible for the safe and efficient receipt, segregation, and storage of inbound metal units, hardeners, equipment, and consumables. This includes the inspection of all incoming metal units to verify type, chemistry, and quantities match the purchase agreement or description. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include the following. Other duties will be assigned as deemed necessary by operations & staff management) Strict adherence to safe working practices including operation of large mobile equipment (frontend loader, fork truck, semi-trailer dump tractor). Organization and housekeeping of the furnace and scrap storage areas, cleaning and basic maintenance of related equipment (charge car, skim car, forklift, etc.) Inspect all incoming scrap to verify type, chemistry, and quantities match the BOL Tell management about potential issues that may arise or are currently affecting production in a timely manner
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire, Visa sponsorship is not available for this position Must pass minimal physical test and background screening Candidates must be able to work any shift (will need to specify what the shifts are) Physical effort required by the job includes standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds Willingness to cross train Skills and Abilities Ability to identify problems, inform others, and assist in the solving of such problems Judgment and decision-making abilities to prevent errors, scrap parts, safety hazards, or other poor results pertaining to job duties. Ability to read and interpret work documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, quality instructions, and other related documents. Ability to work with others as a team Licenses or Certifications If driving is required to complete the essential functions of this position, a valid driver's license is required Must satisfactorily complete the Ellwood Aluminum Crane and Forklift certification training programs Safety Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules Promotes a safety culture and ensures compliance with safety policies and rules, Safety improvement -Provides for continuous reduction of workplace hazards, risks, employee accidents.
