Job Description

Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description The Material Handler supports shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations by safely moving materials, replenishing inventory, and performing putaway tasks in a fast-paced production environment. This role involves operating forklifts, handling ingredients and finished products, and completing documentation, while working in varying temperature conditions and performing physically demanding work. Responsibilities Perform shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading products from trucks. Pull ingredients and materials accurately according to production and shipping requirements. Replenish inventory and complete putaway of materials to designated storage locations. Operate forklifts, including sit-down and stand-up reach trucks, to move pallets and materials safely. Use RF scanners for documentation, tracking, and verification of inventory and shipments. Palletize products, wrap pallets securely, and stage them for storage or shipment. Carry, lift, lower, push, and pull heavy or awkward objects and loads, including lifting up to 60 lbs and moving heavy roller carts, bins, or transport containers. Walk long distances within the facility, including on wet, uneven, or slippery surfaces. Climb and move on ladders, steps, stairwells, walkways, and platforms as needed to access materials. Maintain excellent attendance and be willing to work overtime, including Saturdays, when required. Support additional warehouse duties such as batching, stocking, and general material handling tasks as assigned. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all safety procedures while working around loud machinery and strong ingredient odors. Adhere to all facility rules regarding personal protective equipment, hygiene, and dress code. Essential Skills Minimum of 6 months of forklift experience. Proficiency operating forklifts, including sit-down and stand-up reach trucks. Ability to safely operate Crown forklifts or similar equipment. Experience with material handling in a warehouse, manufacturing, or production environment. Capability to use RF scanners for inventory and shipping documentation. Ability to lift and lower objects up to 60 lbs and to push or pull heavy carts and containers. Comfort working on ladders, steps, stairwells, walkways, and platforms. Ability to walk long distances on wet, uneven, or slippery surfaces. Reliability with strong attendance and willingness to work overtime, including Saturdays. Ability to work safely in both cold (20-45°F) and hot (exceeding 100°F) environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred. Experience with order picking in a warehouse setting. Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) in a food or ingredient production facility. Comfort working in environments with strong, lingering odors from spices and ingredients. Ability to work effectively in a loud, machinery-driven production environment. Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks, including batching, stocking, palletizing, and general warehouse work. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a production and warehouse facility that produces various blends and spices for multiple clients, resulting in strong, persistent odors that may cling to clothing and hair. Team members work around loud machinery and must follow strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety procedures at all times. The environment includes both cold areas (approximately 20-45°F) and hot areas that can frequently exceed 100°F, requiring comfort with temperature extremes. The facility requires hair nets and beard nets where applicable, and enforces a specific dress code: safety work shoes with reinforced toes and slip-resistant soles, durable work pants such as denim (no leggings, jeggings, tights, yoga pants, or shorts), and shirts that cover the shoulders (no tank tops, halter tops, midriff shirts, open-back tops, or strap-style tops). Long hair must be tied or banded without clips, barrettes, or pins, and no jewelry of any kind is permitted, including rings, watches, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and visible piercings. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
