Job Description

Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description This role is responsible for safely and efficiently handling materials within a warehouse or manufacturing environment and transporting them to designated locations using material handling equipment and a large box truck. You will load, unload, move, stage, and store materials, support accurate inventory control, and ensure shipments are prepared and documented correctly while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. Responsibilities Load, unload, move, stage, and store materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment. Receive incoming shipments, verify quantities against documentation, and inspect materials for damage or discrepancies. Prepare outbound shipments by accurately picking, packing, and staging orders according to requirements. Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory systems or manual documentation methods. Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures, material identification standards, and labeling requirements to ensure proper stock rotation and traceability. Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe in compliance with established safety standards and procedures. Operate a large box truck to transport materials, products, or equipment to and from designated locations, including off-site facilities. Secure loads properly in the truck to prevent shifting, damage, or safety hazards during transport. Represent the company in a professional manner when interacting with customers, vendors, and coworkers during deliveries and pickups. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any maintenance issues or safety concerns promptly. Comply with all DOT, traffic, and company safety regulations while driving and handling materials. Maintain delivery logs, bills of lading, and other transportation-related documentation as required. Essential Skills Previous material handling and/or warehouse experience. Familiarity with moving materials throughout facilities and warehouses using material handling equipment. Basic computer skills to support inventory tracking and documentation. Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and similar equipment safely. Capability to perform accurate receiving, picking, packing, and staging of materials. Attention to detail for verifying quantities, inspecting materials, and maintaining accurate records. Ability to follow safety procedures, including load securing and workplace safety practices. Comfort with driving and operating a large box truck in compliance with traffic and safety regulations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Inventory or cycle counting experience. Shipping experience, including preparing and handling outbound orders. Experience with inventory management in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Experience delivering materials to off-site locations. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced setting. Good communication skills for coordinating with team members, customers, and vendors. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a warehouse or manufacturing setting with frequent use of forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment, as well as regular operation of a large box truck for deliveries to on-site and off-site locations. You can expect a physically active role that involves lifting, moving, and staging materials, working around loading docks, and spending time both indoors and outdoors depending on delivery routes and shipping areas. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety standards, with consistent use of inventory systems or manual documentation to track materials and shipments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Camas, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
