Warehouse Material Handler- Job Description
- The Warehouse Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials within a warehouse and production environment. This role supports daily operations by receiving, storing, picking, packing, and delivering materials to the appropriate locations while maintaining inventory accuracy and following strict safety standards.
- Responsibilities
- + Perform daily cycle counts and assist with maintaining accurate inventory records using manual counts and inventory systems.
+ Receive, inspect, and unload incoming materials and products, verifying accuracy and quality. + Accurately pick, pack, stage, and transport materials to designated locations within the warehouse or production facility. + Load and unload trucks, containers, and pallets using manual methods and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts. + Operate warehouse equipment, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers, once trained and certified. + Operate saw equipment and other production-related tools as needed to support material processing and workflow. + Use computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite to perform data entry, track inventory, and complete required documentation. + Label, sort, and store materials according to established procedures to ensure efficient material flow and easy retrieval. + Prepare materials for shipment, including packing, labeling, and completing shipping and receiving documentation. + Identify damaged, non-conforming, or incorrect materials and promptly report issues to supervision. + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company policies and safety standards, with safety as the top priority at all times. + Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks efficiently and meet production numbers and efficiency expectations. + Work collaboratively with warehouse and production teams while also being able to perform tasks independently. + Perform general labor and other warehouse or material handling duties as assigned to support overall operations.
- Essential Skills
- + High school diploma or GED.
+ Minimum of 1+ years of warehouse and production experience in a metals facility or manufacturing-related facility. + Previous experience in material handling and warehouse operations. + Forklift operation experience, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, or the ability to obtain powered industrial truck certification. + Experience with warehouse inventory control, cycle counting, and general inventory processes. + Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions. + Basic math skills, including the ability to use a ruler and perform measurements accurately. + Basic computer skills, including data entry and use of Microsoft Office Suite for inventory tracking and documentation. + Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and safety. + Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. + Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a shift. + Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials, often up to 50 pounds. + Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions in a warehouse environment. + Willingness to work in varying temperatures and industrial conditions.

- + Experience in a high-volume warehouse or production facility with strong expectations on production numbers and efficiencies.
+ inExperience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading, unloading, and documentation. + Proficiency with order picking, packing, and packaging tasks. + Familiarity with general warehouse production workflows and material flow between warehouse and production areas. + Comfort working around moving equipment and in a busy industrial setting. + Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.

- Work Environment
- This role is based in a warehouse and production facility with high expectations on production numbers and operational efficiency.
The site typically employs approximately 150-160 full-time team members and operates in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures. Work involves standing and walking for most of the shift, frequent lifting and material handling, and regular interaction with forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Dress code is casual and practical, typically jeans and a t-shirt, with steel-toed shoes required. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and must be worn as directed. Standard shifts operate on three rotations: 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. For some MCO and Shipping roles, shifts may follow standard daytime hours such as 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All work is performed under strict safety procedures that must be followed at all times.

- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $19.20 - $20.20/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
