Worthington Steel in Porter, IN is hiring Material Handlers to support our packaging operations. What You'll Get Starting pay: $20.00/hour $2.00/hour shift premium for 2nd and 3rd shift Paid training on 1st shift (7am-3pm) Clear path to advancement — many employees grow into skilled roles or leadership positions A strong safety-focused, team-oriented work environment Schedule Train on 1st shift (7am-3pm) for the first few months After training, transition to: 2nd shift (3pm-11pm) OR 3rd shift (11pm-7am) Shift premium applies once you move off 1st shift What You'll Do You'll play an important role in keeping production running safely and efficiently.

Day-to-day work includes:

Banding, packaging, and preparing materials for shipment Moving steel materials using forklifts and/or cranes Supporting production lines by staging materials and removing finished product Assisting with basic machine setup and operation Tracking and labeling materials accurately Keeping work areas clean and safe

What We're Looking For Must-Have:

Ability to work on your feet and handle physical, repetitive tasks Basic math and reading skills Attention to detail and commitment to safety Willingness to learn and work as part of a team Excellent attendance Desire to grow, take initiative, and build a long-term career Nice-to-Have (not required): Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience Mechanical aptitude Experience reading a tape measure or using banding tools Forklift or crane experience People who do well in this role tend to be dependable, motivated, and interested in growing within a manufacturing environment.
