Aug 1, 2026 Job Description The McPherson Middle School Multiple Disabilities (MD) Classroom Teacher provides specialized instruction and support for students with multiple and severe disabilities in a structured middle school setting. The teacher develops and implements individualized education programs (IEPs) that address students' academic, functional, communication, behavioral, social-emotional, and daily living needs in alignment with Ohio Department of Education requirements. The MD teacher delivers instruction focused on functional academics, communication development, social skills, self-regulation, independence, and transition readiness appropriate for middle school-aged students. Instruction may include the use of assistive technology, adaptive curriculum, sensory supports, and positive behavior interventions. The teacher collaborates with intervention specialists, paraprofessionals, related service providers, families, and general education staff to ensure students receive comprehensive support and meaningful educational experiences. Responsibilities include monitoring student progress, maintaining compliance with special education laws and regulations, implementing behavior support plans, facilitating inclusion opportunities when appropriate, and preparing students for increased independence and future transition planning.
