Job Description

Equipment Specialist (General) Duties
  • Serves as a Reliability, Maintainability, Availability (RAM) and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) evaluator.
  • Responsible for the technical adequacy and accuracy of RAM and ILS evaluations of system test programs conducted as part of developmental and production type tests of Army materiel.
  • Develops test requirements: Devises RAM and ILS for a wide variety of experimental equipment and test situations covering design and conduct of reliability, maintainability, availability and durability (RAM-D) test.
  • Coordinates RAM and Logistics Supportability evaluation effort: Provides supervision and guidance to others (military and civilian) of lower grade in the conduct of RAM and logistics supportability evaluations.
  • Manages RAM/ILS automated data bases: Serves as U.S. Aberdeen Test Center point-of-contact for automated RAM/ILS test data. Requirements Conditions of employment

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Monitoring and verifying maintenance and repair actions during testing to ensure they are properly conducted and documented; and 2)Developing procedures to review and validate reliability or maintainability test data; and 3) Analyzing maintenance data to identify and classify failure severity and maintenance chargeability. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
  • Data Analysis and Decision Making
  • Equipment Repair/Modification
  • Maintenance Planning and Program Development Additional information
